Happy to be back at the session of Physics of Immunology at the APS meeting. This time in Denver!
"Here Borges appears once again, this time as a lottery. In The Lottery in Babylon, chance slowly colonizes everything: rewards, punishments, careers, meaning itself.(...) At first, it is a lottery with rules; eventually, the rules dissolve and only ritual remains."

Is thinking in phase space rather than real space one of the most characteristic traits of a physicist?
Last May, we were thrilled to host the 2nd edition of #EESTCBio 🦬📖

This work looks fantastic, Max. Congrats!
Will definitely find the time soon to read the preprint!
¡Saludos desde Colonia!
🎉🏅We congratulate 🌟Roberto Morán-Tovar (University of Cologne, Germany), on winning the FEBS Letters #PosterPrize at the recently held EMBO/EMBL Symposium 'Theory and concepts in biology' #EESTCBio! 🎉👏👏👏
We wish you all the best, Roberto!

Se nos fue Pepe :( Gracias por la revolución. Gracias por la dignidad. Gracias por las enseñanzas. Tu espíritu vivirá en Latinoamerica y en el mundo entero. Descansa en paz viejo ✊️
This week, I attended my last conference as a PhD student @events.embl.org
4 days of "Theory and concepts in biology", with new topics, new questions, and an amazing community. I was awarded the prize for best poster sponsored by @febsletters.bsky.social 😊
The final day of the excellent Theory and concepts in biology EMBO | EMBL Symposium is about to begin! 🔬Looking forward to a final morning of talks on the dynamics of animal behaviour, unsupervised exploration of morphology from microscopy data, and more.

I think a failure in how we talk about vaccines is in how we don't communicate how they don't all work exactly the same. Some vaccines (like polio vaccine) prevent most individuals from getting polio for life. Others, like covid or even MMR prevent severe disease and foster herd immunity.
I want to tell you a story about computers, creativity and art. (1/N) 🧵
Sydney Brenner once said in 2012 that “nobody has actually read the human genome. I mean, computers have processed the human genome, but we all know computers are stupid.”
(Summary of a talk I gave at the Sanger last week)
New over here! I will start posting about the immune system, viruses, and biophysics. Occasionally, about literature and road cycling.
