I made it back to the states in one piece! What a wonderful trip. Shout-out to the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum in Kobe; it was one of the coolest museums I've ever visited. Here is me using a Japanese hand plane in the workshop there. Bonus picture of Osaka Castle, which was breathtaking.

Last year when I started my blues course, I also began working with an LA-based luthier to build a replacement for my electric guitar, whose weight was causing problems for my back. Not long ago, this wonderful Show Pony arrived at my musical lair, courtesy of Tone Ranger Guitars. She's pretty!

Like many other Iranian Americans, I spent much of yesterday glued to my phone.
In the evening, however, I spontaneously volunteered to man a "bluegrass petting zoo" for a few hours at an opry in Kenmore, WA. It was delightful to see people of all ages interact with instruments for the first time.
Both of these roles are based in Renton!
A jam circle at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bellevue. I am playing an acoustic guitar, while other musicians in the circle play mandolin, a cigar-box banjo, and an upright bass.
Another year, another #Wintergrass!
Last February, I was too shy to play with other musicians at this festival. This year, however, I formed a jam circle with other members of the Outlanders Progressive Bluegrass Social Club along with a few spontaneous recruits!
It was really special.
Some of the positions were replacements for existing roles. I used to be the team's manager, for example, and two team members were promoted to senior last year. Other roles are new!
We are always trying to improve the experiences we create for fans. There are many exciting things on the horizon. 🌞

D&D themed cake I made for my kid. Chocolate cake, chocolate mousse filling, chocolate cremeux, American buttercream. I had way to much fun with the burnt sugar flames.
The Halloween episode also stands out in my mind as one of the best holiday specials I've seen. It was so cool seeing the animators unleash some of their creativity through Ed's TV vision.

As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today. ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
