Right from allowing an #AFL umpire to have a 2nd job with a betting agency down to taking an umpire's untested word over multiple players over to just how long the whole process took.
Time to pay for full time umpires who don't need 2nd jobs & full time judiciary who don't 'phone in'.

After all the hullabaloo over the alleged abuse towards umpire Nick Foot, the penalty gets tossed aside.
#AFL decides not to recontest the case which means the charge on Butters is thrown out but also an indictment on how absurd it was all handled.

It was fun watching the One Notion people go batshit crazy over it though...made them look so insecure over the win & yet it would've increased the margin thanks to dissatisfaction with the Libs in rural SA & no 'Nationals' to turn to like before.
There wouldn't have been any change in the result as the votes couldn't be added to the count without the Election Committee doing an appeal of the writ already issued.
Refer to Antony Green's self-published article on the situation folks.

Next #Booktopia order is on its way.
Wife couldn't decide what to get me for our anniversary last Saturday so I was like "$100 towards books?"
(Not-so) Fun Fact: I keep an active 'wishlist' like I do for #Lego for just this reason.

No surprise there by #AdelaideFC with captain Jordan Dawson taking the appropriate personal leave. Good to see Butts & Pedlar back. Omission of Borlase no surprise either with Butts back in.

In my house, the last one was called Darth Maul...'cos it was split in two.

In her little press conference she looked kind of worried. Giving the same couple of answers in different words before her media handler took over...
She'd be car crash tv in the parliament, having to face questions a handler couldn't give her the party line for...
She might be quaking now...could get a bigger margin & then have to live up to it.
No one said the umpire's wasn't evidence either, just uncorroborated by others at the ground.
So is Butters' & Wines'.
Aww man.
Thoughts with the Dawson family.
Footy can take the back seat in the bus right now.

So #AFL to umpires - we've got your backs even if there's no evidence to support you.
Also, #AFL to players - just kick the footy around & do as we tell you, cop giving us back part of your pay-check or bugger off elsewhere.
#AussieRules
You could even say this is allegedly extortion by the #AFL to run up the 'Butters Bill'.
Balance of probabilities say Butters made a comment or two...but not what was actually said. Umpire Foot-in-Mouth's evidence of the words said is not corroborated by any witness.
I foresee numerous "How much they paying you Foot?" signs at all #AFL games he now umpires.
Put a target on his own back for it.
Then watch the knee-jerk league enforced over-reaction by stadium security.
πππ #KeepingItLightπΊ
It was never about an 'invented' sledge just a mis-heard remark by umpire Foot-in-Mouth.
#AFL
So no 100% proof of what was said. Still taking the word over an umpire whose employment with the #AFL is conflicted by Foot's appointment with Sportsbet.
His judgement of what is said is prejudiced by how he feels he is viewed by players & public in this regard.
www.afl.com.au/news/1498239...
It's all a conspiracy to build up the 'Butters Bill' so they can keep on using it for their 'manufactured drama'.
πππ #KeepingItLightπΊ
With no evidence whatsoever other than what an allegedly compromised umpire with a conflict of interest 'though he heard'.
I'd be taking this to court. Would get thrown out with the 'he said-he said' nature of it.
Pathetic.
Need a tip?
Nick has got a Foot in the Sportsbet door!
πππ #KeepingItLightπΊ
For a so called "Professional Sports League" the #AFL is showing clear incompetence in allowing someone to umpire who can influence events of a game & inside knowledge of #Brownlow votes to work for a betting company.
Exotic bets anyone (like on frees or 50m penalties given)...
#AFL umpire Nick Foot (who also works for a betting agency - Sportsbet) in evidence saying:
"When your integrity is questioned you never forget those words."
He might have a mental complex there.
Also, if you don't want it questioned, don't have a secondary job that is a conflict of interest.
Quite frankly, if they're explaning a decision to the players it (being mic'd up) could certainly help the broadcast & viewers understand why a free was paid from the umpire's point of view.
Less ambiguity.
#AFL #AussieRules
All #AFL umps should be mic'd up and at all times recording. Not necessarily always feeding to the broadcasts but accessible.
Take away any sort of 'I said'-'they said' argument when it comes to so called dissent (which has a pretty piss weak base level it seems).
After all, the #AFL wouldn't allow players, coaches, clubs' staff, league staff to have that kind of secondary employment on the face it, for just that reason...not a good look.
Just for the potential of corruption to occur.
If it is true that this Nick Foot character is both an umpire for the #AFL and gambling employee you would have to question the conflict of interest there.
Whilst he may not bet or advocate betting on AFL matches per se it is still not a good look for the league.
