For sure, although that’s a bit different as style of play could have suited the step up, and did early in the season. It’s v rare than sides get promoted from Cship who don’t dominate the ball, which isn’t the blueprint for PL survival.

The way Blades are setting up this season would be much more conducive to PL survival bid than last time, although they finished 9th that time round so Wilder did pretty exceptionally to start!
I wouldn’t advocate it but I could certainly see the logic behind it yes, albeit not quite as extreme an ideology as Martin
If Saints had sacked Russell Martin in the summer to prepare for a PL survival bid then everyone would have been up in arms, but then by having him oversee the start of the season the damage is likely already done. Won’t be long til a promoted side sack their boss immediately imo, and be quite smart

I'm torn. I'd love the club to stick to the plan and hire a coach who will try to get us to play in a way condusive to the development of young talent. On the other hand, as much as appointing Rowett would go against that, he'd surely give us a better chance of staying up and consolidating
