Fuck the BAFTAs for doing this
I completely understand wanting to warn guests, but just WARN THEM THEN
I hope this will end up giving The Quiet Things more publicity overall, but it still shouldn't have happened

I'm normally very pessimistic about video game films, but if anyone can make a cool zombie film named Resident Evil, I trust Cregger can do it

It's wild how many indie horror games are getting movie adaptations now
Everything from FNAF to Night Shift, and now Home Safety Hotline
I will be watching!

Going for every ending in that game inevitably leads to you snapping back to reality after many many hours of mindless grinding and thinking "What the hell is wrong with me?"
I still hear the soundtrack in my nightmares

Gonna be controversial and say that while RE3make is not a good remake of RE3, it is one of the more fun modern REs
No way in hell was it worth full price, but for less than a fiver you can play much worse
Over COVID I used to play through it in one sitting whenever I was bored (which was a lot)

Angine de Poitrine - Sarniezz (Live on KEXP) YouTube video by KEXP

Sometimes I get a YouTube recommendation that makes me feel like I've gone back to the late 00's/early 10's when you would randomly be fed the messy life changing insane thing you've ever seen
Anyways, this goes so unbelievably hard

Speaking of Fatal Frame, can we bring back PS2 era voice acting where everyone sounds bored/like they're recording in their bedroom and don't want anyone else to hear? I really miss it

Finished my first ever playthrough of Fatal Frame. It's good! Definitely very janky, it's not as polished as some of its PS2 contemporaries, but I had fun with it. Excited to move on to 2, which I've heard much better things about.

"My books are about nothing but entertainment" is an... Interesting way to promote your work

Looking forward to the RLM video in 8 months called "Fixing Our Newest Prop" and it'll start with footage of Rich Evans taking a bandsaw to this 3-P0 head

To whoever it was on the Fatal Frame dev team who decided that first person mode that you use for combat should have camera on left stick and movement on right stick, what was your PROBLEM?! Everyone else did a great job, I think you should be locked up though

I don't know guys, I'm starting to think the video game industry might be in trouble

That is V true, those AI detection sites are not foolproof, and everyone is so on edge with AI at the moment that false flags like that can be very damaging.
Very interesting insight all around, thank you so much for responding!

I agree, the book being pulled is already bad enough for them. I've had similar conversations with authors and publishing people about AI generated covers where no one wants to claim responsibility for the choice. Once you're caught with AI, it's easier to pull the "I had no idea" card

I had the exact same thought! Which is very strange considering Hachette are a major publisher. It feels like this was a case of negligence at every level, but I find it very interesting that they've pulled the book. Hachette obviously knows they've messed up badly here to take that kind of hit.

If the author is being genuine, then I feel terrible for her, but I find it bizarre that an editor would use AI on your book and you wouldn't notice the dramatic shift in quality? Maybe I'm wrong though and this is completely normal!

Hachette pulls horror novel Shy Girl after suspected AI use The publisher has cancelled the US release of Shy Girl by Mia Ballard and withdrawn the UK edition after weeks of online speculation about the novel’s origins

Genuine question for publishing industry people re Shy Girl controversry: is it normal for an author to just accept an editor's changes with no input or seemingly without checking the work at all? Or is this a case of a first time author being too trusting?

Book #12 of 2026
Wickedly funny and endlessly charming, Raising Demons by Shirley Jackson proves that beyond being a master of the macabre, Jackson also had a razor sharp wit.

More Pricks Than Kicks by Samuel Beckett offers a glimpse into the early work of one of the greatest authors of all time. Unfortunately, he hadn't quite hit his stride just yet.

Not to be a hater, because I love the Villeneuve Dune movies, but the thing I've always disliked about them is how many of the weird freaks they cut out
Removing child Alia from Part 2 etc
They better include the guild navigators in this one
Say what you want about Lynch's Dune, he kept the freaks!

Horror movie fans!
I'm putting a project together that involves cataloguing the most important horror movies of all time. Are there any movies that you think HAVE to be on there? Not just favourites, but movies that are important to the history of the genre!

We are not doing revisionism on the Christophe Gans "Harry would never go to save his daughter because that's gay and feminine" movie
The movie is bad, it wasn't a feminist choice, and I have no idea why Konami thought he deserved a second chance with Return to Silent Hill

Asked some other non-MTG friends to play a game of Commander last night. Friend brought a Cid deck with ripple and decided this was the best way to resolve it...
I was playing a precon, so you can imagine what happened
Anyways, MTG is fun! I still have to look up every keyword, but I'm learning

Thank you Digital Foundry, it's been a while since we've had something to unite the gaming community as strongly as dunking on this
I mean, shame on you for posting it, but it's nice to be reminded that a lot of people hate this crap

Do Nvidia think we're genuinely stupid and don't see that this is clearly not just lighting changes? (Don't answer that, I know they think we're stupid)

One of the only years that I've checked the Oscar winners and actually felt like the right people won. So happy to see Sinners and OBAA get the flowers they deserve, and of course Amy Maddigan for Weapons. Haven't seen Hamnet yet, but I'm always happy to see one of our own win, gowann Jessie
