Very impressed with the numbers of evs and the charging infrastructure on a visit to Nepal recently. Seemed like more charging stations on the way up to the trekking routes than I see here in Oz.

How much of the ticket price does fuel represent? Clearly there will be an increase, but unless all the other factors (lease costs, airport charges, wages, etc) are equally affected by the fuel price increase, the relative increase in cost should be significantly less.

Still unnecessary of course.

Was the strudel the final test for citizenship?

Congratulations. I hope your course goes well.

Is it a bad sign that it not only left the country but also the planet?

I saw this movie knowing nothing about it beyond that it was sci fi ish. Fantastic experience that led me to avoid learning anything about movies before seeing them.

This strategy backfired so very badly afterwards. After a couple of decades I gave up. Still remember dark city fondly though. Sigh.

Well, if it walks like a collection of nanoparticles, and talks like a collection of nanoparticles, I guess it must be....

Nice demonstration of the value of being able to visualise and analyse data from a core facility.

That and civ2 consumed far too much of my time back then. Great games.

It'd be more popular than people think. A PM here said, "no one ever complained to me about their home rising in value". That pre-dated current affordability crisis but subsequent govts have only done things that look like they help, but are actually ineffectual. Home owners are powerful + selfish

Yeah, really targeting the selfish arsehole demographic with that one, aren't they?

Background looks suspiciously similar to me. I wonder if someone has used an AI image generator to fill in the missing details. I'd wait before sharing this.

Thanks, good to know. I'll get myself off those lists.

What is the view that Sweden's approach gave the best outcomes? I thought at the time they had death rates much higher (2X to 4X?) than their Nordic neighbours? Did subsequent events change that, or can they point to better economic performance in compensation?

Thanks for writing that. It is good to have a reality check on where people are on the ladder and where government support should be directed.

It's been a while, but I thought Tweedledum and Tweedledee were indistinguishable? I wish this govt was better on many, many fronts and had courage for serious reform but I don't think they are the same as a Dutton govt would be. Do you think they are?

I think you are overly optimistic here. I felt that way when abbot was made loto and when trump became the GOP candidate for 2016, and I was sadly mistaken. I don't think being manifestly inadequate is a barrier to power. Current govt could be sooo much better, but could also be a lot worse.

Yep, and they absolutely hate the local utility solar and probably reckon the LCOE for solar vs coal is made up woke nonsense. But they do know how much less they pay with their solar panels. I'd like a Damascus road conversion but I'll take good practical outcomes.

I have in laws with the same media diet and politics but even they have embraced solar, because of how it cut their bills. They haven't changed their opinion on climate change, of course, but the net effect of their choice is less co2. I'll take that.

Self interest is a powerful force.

I thought it was great until I realised they were going to replay it, like the last duel. A movie that clocks in at about an hour? Fits my attention span and lets an old guy get to bed early. Winner!

Ah well, that makes sense. It did seem rather extreme, even for the time. Will check the snopes archival material next time before posting.
