It is once again that time of year when every Books Dad gets absolutely bodied by Molesworth.

Just booked. This new Magnificat feels ancient, new, prophetic, like no other setting of Mary’s age-changing utterance you’ve ever heard. In London, 15 December. The role written for R Wigglesworth’s incomparable soprano wife Sophie Bevan. Just book it asap.

On the right is the notorious La Santé prison, & the street corner Tanguy depicts was the site 1909-1939 of public executions by guillotine (including of anarchists etc). Tanguy suggests that amid suburban Parisian cyclists, publicité, and shops, lurks the violence of the state against its citizens.

High over the river, the crows are circling, calling and weaving, back & forth, they cannot settle. Something has shifted deep in the land, deep below the snow and the flood and the rocks, and they need to measure it for themselves.

'The problem is all histories are usually sanitised' - BBC News The BBC series Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland takes a deeply personal look at the Troubles.

"While history is made up of big stories, it is understood best when we can hear the small, personal details." Catching up watching with family www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-nort... and I do think it’s a model… the patchwork of testimonies just leaves me silent and full of awe.
