I did it a fair bit a few years ago but I stopped after crashing into a car speeding across a rice field road. I ended up in the mud with my bike smashed up as they sped away, so I stopped cycling out of fear. I stopped mainly because I didn't want to have to invest in a new bike
I live in a country that people love to talk about having good public transportation but not in rice field country. I can either drive 20 minutes or public transportation would be about 1:45 each way. Maybe 150ε worth of gas vs 600εfare. So now I'm cycling so far so good.
