Sen. Chris Murphy: "Trump's FCC forced a major network to pull a loud Trump critic, Jimmy Kimmel, off the air — essentially saying that any media actor that doesn't say what Trump wants them to say...is going to be silenced. That's censorship. That's not America."

The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice. As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree. Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich. Silencing us impoverishes the whole world. The WA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.

A Dem lawmaker and her husband were killed by a guy for their political views and it’s already out of the news.
This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.
Don't forget will likely wipeout vaccinations as a thing at all that exists in the coming year.
We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.
They're not fine w/ it when we wanted to know who had all the guns but now, just ALL our info is fine. Just fine!
🚨🚨 Treasury Sec. Bessent refuses to answer if he supports Trump creating a massive government database with your personal info.
This should have been an easy NO. Congress must practice oversight over the use of Americans’s personal data.
Antidepressants and ADHD meds that he seems to think are harming ppl, but in fact make a huge difference in ppl's lives, I’d like to know why he thinks they're harmful. Have friends whose children are ADHD and their meds completely chgd how their kids can focus. It will ruin lives if he bans them.
@pelosi.house.gov: "On January 6th...we begged the president of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it...And yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture."
Mass protests erupted nationwide following resistance by Los Angeles against the Trump regime's ICE ethnic-cleansing campaign.
Demonstrations have taken place in Chicago New York City, Dallas, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Portland, Boston and more. #3E #StopICE
I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.
There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.
They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.
She has truly lost her mind.
I've seen one of these out w/ its owner and running around. It's. The. Best. Watching that fur move is like a moving car wash. It's wild.
NEW: A data broker owned by the country’s major airlines, including Delta, American Airlines, and United, collected US travelers’ domestic flight records, sold access to them to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). www.wired.com/story/airlin...
cooler heads prevailing. Because this is batshit and only acts as tinder to make things worse. Because it won't stop w/ LA. He already hates Seattle and Chicago.. it's just a matter of when and who else is on that list? He has 3 1/2 yrs to keep us frustrated and angry. 😡
Oh 100% agree. & completely unnecessary. Not saying that's how they'll act for certain esp in the face of what the Guard has already stirred up. Just saying that's what I read in the related article about the pentagon setting up guidelines on the fly. I have to hope there are some military w/
Josh Hawley hasn’t found his soul, friends.
He is just making sure that Missouri billionaires aren’t on the hook for funding Medicaid expansion. Medicaid cuts will have to be made up at the state level and the wealthy won’t get their tax cuts if they defund Medicaid at the federal level.
I don't know if that's 100% true at least not here. I read they have been trained to de-escalate whenever possible but the Pentagon was getting the rules to them for LA on the fly.
Newsom says the National Guard troops are bored and having nothing to do. So, give them something to do.
Surely the City of Los Angeles has toilets to clean, graffiti to remove, and other important jobs this government labor can be doing.
Let’s not pay people to just stand around!
ICE raided Los Angeles elementary schools in an attempt to kidnap small children. They hid their identities, claimed they weren't ICE, and lied to school authorities that they had "permission" from the parents to take the children out. School officials luckily didn't fall for it.
An LAPD helicopter claimed to have ID'ed protesters from above and threatened to "come to your house."
The threat was greeted with extreme concern by civil liberties and digital privacy groups. It suggests the LAPD could be using facial recognition to identify and retaliate against protesters.
I've done that! :) all good!
I do know my rights. It seems u don't know yours.
It is legal to film and take photos of police. We've all been thru this before. I don't know why we have to keep saying it.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon says the deployment of National Guard members and Marines to protests over immigration raids in Los Angeles is costing $134 million. After persistent questioning from members of Congress on Tuesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth turned to his acting comptroller, Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell, who provided the total. She said the money will come from operations and maintenance accounts.
The Pentagon confirms that the Trump regime's deployment of National Guard members and Marines to intimidate US citizens in an attempt to deny citizens of their First Amendment and peaceful protests over ICE ethnic cleansing operations in LA will cost tax payers $134 million.
