The Oklahoma governor has signed an executive order to phase out tenure. In Tennessee, a similar law is being discussed, while Georgia already has one university without tenure - not to speak of "post-tenure review" being introduced in more and more states.

I've found this (below) both reassuring and highlighting of the need for constant vigilance. There is no perfect end state. See if you can see where the 'thousand year reich' occurs (also, that Roman Empire lasted quite a while).
