Graphic for The Graphic Library with the cover of Otaku x Gal volume 1
Otaku x Gal is a sweet little friendship story born out of the latest trends. Some of the phrases might become dated, but the core story may appeal to readers because of its wholesomeness.

I saw it in Vegas years ago and it was so funny, my cheeks hurt afterwards like Barbie at the end of Toy Story 2. Hope your cast is fantastic and your evening out is amazing!
Would appreciate everybody sharing this post and others to help us fund The Girlfriend Survives and SLAY! by me, @nakashojiart.com @jamienoguchi.bsky.social, Alex Smith, @wastedwings.bsky.social, @tayloresposito.bsky.social
Our deep dark secret is that if you fund this, we'll make more comics!
Hope you enjoy it! Is this your first time seeing it?
For about 10 years now, @dodafoo.bsky.social and @caraoneil.bsky.social , @valentinebarker.com , and whomever we can wrangle on stage have been doing a convention panel called "So You Want to Work in Comics?" We give all the advice anyone will ever need on how to break in.
Step 1) Make Comics.
I don’t usually encourage gate keeping, but when an uppity teenage boy tells you that you must know nothing about manga and anime because you’re an adult…
I’m so excited to be sharing with Connecticut library folks and anyone else who wants to join in!
SO EXCITING!!! Who doesn’t want more space books, ESPECIALLY more graphic novels about space?!?
I love the comic characters accepting the award! What a great way to celebrate, by giving us new art!
There’s always going to the library & asking for recommendations/checking out books from the designated sections. Hopefully, your local librarians have done their research, but with manga, there are still a lot of misconceptions in the profession, unfortunately. GL and yes, glad you found the site!
These editions are a thing of beauty

There are SO MANY good graphic novels for his age. I know he’s gonna want to read the more mature stuff because “everyone else is,” but lots of folks started w Pokémon 🤣
Most pubs also level their text consistently through a series, so one volume that looks OK that has a Mature rating on it = it might get serious later
That’s a tough one! I’d first point out the publisher recommended reading levels on the back of books (Dark Horse has them online) Pubs have self-imposed guidelines for violence, adult content, textual difficulty, mature themes, etc. They are all really good about leveling their text.

These otaku are super excited to check out the Art of Manga exhibit at the de Young Museum today!
The district may already have decided sacrificing libraries & literacy rates is the way to save itself, but we may be able to convince them otherwise. Please take a moment to fill out this online petition from @everylibrary.bsky.social

A young child selects a book from a shelf. A yellow banner at the top says "support". A sample petition on the side shows what type of email would be sent. Underneath the picture of the child, it reads "Send an email: Don't cut School Libraries in Long Beach." The URL is also listed.
Yet another district in California is seeking to destroy its long-standing & robust department of teacher librarians & dedicated library media technicians. Yet again, districts finding themselves in shortfalls look to balance their pocket books on the backs of librarians &, ultimately, our students.
Navigating with You I saw everywhere and heard so much about. Dog Knight — completely under the radar for me. This sounds amazing.
The Bean! Depending on how long into the future, the Obama presidential library (opens in June), again depending on time of year, Cubs game. Lots of local eateries for pizza, good Italian food, Girl and the Goat. This is what I have from my memory of my first trip there.
I've updated my Publishers & Imprints list with some new folks -- @kodamatales.bsky.social, @fantagraphics.bsky.social's Takumigraphics, and @23rdstbooks.bsky.social -- & added some of the suggestions in the comments. Keep them coming, folks!
