Whoops! Looks like someone translated that one correctly. Here, I've fixed it for you. ;)

Did you consider maybe going with a translucency lookup table, or would that be slower than what you're doing?

I just realized, you're using a colour-subtractive gel effect for the background of the windows as opposed to alpha translucency... :o

(Side Note: I tried to come up with a joke about having a birthday which is the same day as most American Tax Days but couldn't think of one which didn't come across as annoying.

Tax Day here in Canada is always April 30th.)

Happy Birthday, Roses! :)

The first FIVE games on my Steam wishlist (and yes, I have ranked them appropriately) all have release dates of "TO BE ANNOUNCED".

...lucky me...? *shrugs*

It's one of those pieces you get in Pipe Dream which temporarily slows down the flow of fluids through the pipes while it fills up. :B

Heck, do this with the "TYPE" command on an old DOS computer and it becomes a musical experience; every time byte 0x07 comes up it plays a beep over the PC Speaker! :D

...the image is an optical illusion which looks ramped upwards from left to right when it's really not. :o

It's good to see the cards falling towards the developer instead of the publisher in this case given what we know... it doesn't always work out that way once the lawyers need to get involved, such as with Descent Underground... >_<

Granted, that's all in reference to single-chip DLP TVs using a spinning colour wheel, which were the bulk of them.

Professional-grade DLP equipment could be triple-chip, one each for red, green, and blue, but those were INCREDIBLY expensive. >_>;

I was always worried that DLP would look weird to me because I knew back then that I could discern up to around 90 Hz with my eyes, but when I ultimately saw a DLP TV in person it looked fine.

I think for DLP to look weird your eyes have to have an unnaturally low persistence of vision. :P

Part of the reason I'm adding solid-colour backgrounds is because I want to make it possible for people to easily create green-screen or blue-screen worlds and will include such an example by default as one of the pre-built worlds in the game. :B

So after a bunch of testing I had to invoke a limitation in Project AB whereby if you use a solid colour for the background, all reflection effects are disabled.

I simply could not get metallic surfaces looking right with solid BG colours due to the way reflections in Godot Engine are handled. :/

I know, but I also know my limits and I know what I'm capable of which means if I have the capacity to do, I will do. ;)

Yeah, not quite recovered enough to record an NNRG video properly, so we'll be skipping on that this week.

The rate I'm recovering though I think I'll be good to get stuff recorded for ADG; I don't have to record for it until later and that's non-live recording so I can just cough between takes. :P

And it's now public for all to enjoy!

Crystals of Zong puts a neat spin on the maze formula of early arcade games, which shows off how early home computer games could run with those ideas for better or worse!

My top three most favourite things in the world, 3rd being video games, 2nd plushies, and 1st I keep secret publicly (but my friends all know it) are ALL things that the majority of society consider to be "kids stuff".

If not for the internet it would be very hard for me to be me. :|

I bought a "business" magazine once a long time ago, right off of store shelves, between my professional programming job and making online videos, to try and get some inspiration on something completely different to make money at...

...like, 95% of the magazine was scams... >_<

In comparison to all of the other FF games I have played, I would rank the game's features thusly:

Art: A (yes, it looks THAT good)

Gameplay: B (early-game linearity aside, it all flows well enough)

Story: C (makes sense but hard to follow)

Music: D (NONE of it is catchy, only serviceable)

2 days ago 0 0 0 0

General impressions though from the first few chapters of the game:

* TONS of hand-holding at the start as there's so many mechanics to explain (thus the linear route)

* Story is VERY hard to follow

* Battle engine is a little awkward, but works for what it is

* Fairly well balanced difficulty

So... Final Fantasy XIII managed to hold my attention for 12 hours before I stopped playing, although really, the only reason I stopped was because I got distracted by too many other things.

I'll probably give it another shot in the future; I don't always clear a game the first time I play it. :B

My response to that argument about Steam is always the same two-pronged comeback:

1. "As if Microsoft, Apple, Google, or heaven forbid Nintendo are doing any better."

2. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I'd rather have an outdated storefront than an "innovated" mess that hardly works. :P

Actually... waitaminute...

*checks something*

...ooookay... so... Poly Haven has a rule that HDR images need to be actual photographs, not created virtually...

...welp, that's gonna scrap that idea to submit stuff to them... I'll come up with something else. :P

That said, one thing I find very interesting about Valve as a company is that many of its key staff (including Gabe) make it possible to eMail each of them DIRECTLY. If you have a legitimate reason to contact one of them (and I have once in the past, not Gabe but someone else) you can do so! ;)

3 days ago 1 0 0 0

(Although don't get me wrong, I totally agree that Gabe spends his wealth on himself a little too brazenly for everyone else's comfort.)

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

You know, people give Gabe a lot of crap for doing irresponsible billionaire-type things but it's INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT to remember that the one thing he hasn't done is sell out Valve to investors for even more profit. If he had, Steam would be no better off than the Microsoft Store or such. >_>
