Last week, we had a superb Benriach tasting. All five drams were thoroughly enjoyed. There are a couple of tasting packs left yo buy so if you'd like to taste these beauts, please let me know. Cheers 🥃

Dram 5. The 18yo Albariza is one of my favourite whiskies ever. This 22yo is almost as good, really enjoyed it! Would certainly have another #pswhisky

Dram 5. Palate: Mouth-watering and chewy. A real fresh zinginess, almost effervescent, with thick, berry jams and fresh, juicy fruits. Sweet, herbal peat, maple syrup, smoked meats, prunes, and some savoury spices, mace, star anise #pswhisky

Dram 5. Nose: Seems like a light-medium peat, more woody/herbal, and quite creamy. Sweet orange, floral honey, raspberry yoghurt, prunes, crepes with cinnamon and sugar #pswhisky

Dram 4. Much lighter than the previous 3 drams. Certainly not unpleasant, but doesn't have the punch of the others #pswhisky

Dram 4. Palate: Medium viscosity. Huge gooseberry note, almost like a sauvignon blanc. Herbal, burning pine needles. The sweet lemon citrus is still present, as are the tropical fruits. Something salty on the finish, salted nuts. Certainly lighter than dram 3 #pswhisky

Nice. I agree. Definitely more of a meaty pork than beefy note.

Never got a soapiness. Maybe that was the floral note I detected.

Dram 3. Palate: This is thick and chewy. Sweet peat and sweet meats, and there's something wonderfully perfumed, floral. A tropical fruitiness, papaya, mango, combined with earthy smoke and light ash, meat, and umami notes. Also some light spice. Fantastic combination. #pswhisky
