I think I'm gonna need to see a lot of playtests of these to know if they're just too punishing to climb. *I* think they're fun, but I also have been known to have a bit of a high pain tolerance for these sorts of things

Graph of English speaking Linux users on Steam, over time, spiking last month at 11.28%
apparently Linux hit 11% for English speakers on Steam last month. That's pretty cool, imo! (from www.gamingonlinux.com/steam-tracke...)
nobody gonna talk about that fourth picture's alt text huh
No stream today - been sick for the past few days. Should be feeling good enough for Friday's stream, I guess~

Oh wow, those colors look fantastic!
Like, the tech stuff is cool, but I'm a bit more interested in how exactly a person can construct, say, a relative in an alternate reality.
Is it because they know them well enough?
Could you ever truly know a person well enough to be able to "make them again" there?
Whose consciousness is that?
Reading Observer by Robert Lanza and Nancy Kress. Not bad, but I kind of wish there was more time spent on the philosophical implications of alternate realities created by a person's memory and ego, rather than the technical aspects of, say, quantum entanglement and the observer effect.

been working on a 2D Unity-like game engine from scratch:
C++ with SDL3 renderer, Luau scripting, scene hierarchy and behavior system, and interactive editor in an integrated webview.
Still some rough edges but the pieces are all there!
However, now I'm kind of wondering - I had an idea for a game that I was going to make, which was going to be fun, but somewhat complex - I'm wondering if it would be better to make something simpler if it's supposed to be a good example for people to jump into.
Like, you'll be able to open the player's script file in any text editor and change the player's jump height, and the game immediately updates. No recompiling, restarting, or additional software needed. Only Blender and my add-on will be needed for modding or making 3D assets.
So I'm working on this ☝️ game, and it's pretty cool because it's almost all dynamically loaded, even hotreloading while the game is running.
My goal is to make a super moddable cross-platform game running on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android with an extremely low barrier to entry.
It appears that Shadow the Hedgehog is superimposed on the surface of the Earth as viewed from space in NASA's image from Artemis II. Rest easy, hero.
