Unlike politics, there’s no such thing as public health centrism. It’s evidence-based radicalism. It’s all about change towards health justice and equity, not tinkering around the edges trying to keep everyone happy. Such notions, my friends, are rather radical and there’s no shame in that.

This is thinly disguised homophobia by Farage.

The same far-right figures who have spent years coming for my trans friends & colleagues are emboldened again against anything different from their "normal."

Today and everyday I stand with the whole LGBTQIA+ community.

Your struggle is my struggle.

Researchers have found a way to 'freeze' brain cancer cells in place – stopping them from spreading 🧠

Early-stage results could pave the way to a new treatment for glioblastoma, the most common and aggressive brain cancer, say scientists @chemistrycambridge.bsky.social 👉 https://bit.ly/3JFukj7

Highly recommend reading this piece.

“If you do not belong to a group that has been systematically dehumanised for decades, it might be hard to understand the impact of these acts of solidarity”.

Will ‘Advice pollution’ make you quit social media? Maybe this graphic will?

The WHO reports that we need healthier online habits among adolescents. www.who.int/europe/news/... Agreed, but what about adults? Do you have the willpower to quit?

Bristol returns cultural artefacts taken from Larrakia people in Australia Objects including three-metre spears were collected in late 19th and early 20th centuries and donated to city’s museum For decades, they have languished in storage in the basement of a museum in the English West Country. Finally, an extraordinary collection of weapons and ceremonial objects taken from the Larrakia people more than a century ago is beginning a winding journey home to the saltwater landscapes of the Northern Territory in Australia. While the mainstream discussions are depressingly about *how* best to remove and stop immigrants, it’s a revolutionary act nowadays to say that immigration is actually a positive thing and an essential component of a thriving country, so please join me in doing so!

Ten Palestinians have died from starvation in last 24 hours, says Gaza health ministry Deaths announced as Pope Leo XIV demands that Israel ends ‘collective punishment’ of people in territory * Middle East crisis – live updates Ten Palestinians including two children have died from starvation in the last 24 hours, the health authorities in Gaza said on Wednesday, as Pope Leo XIV demanded that Israel stop its “collective punishment” of the population in the besieged territory. At least 313 people have died from hunger, including 119 children, since the war in Gaza began and Israel intensified its siege on the Palestinian territory. Last week a UN-backed monitoring body confirmed that Gaza is in the throes of famine, warning that without more aid increasing numbers of people would lose access to food. Continue reading...

We need better detection systems in place to ensure neurodivergent children are getting the correct diagnoses and support needed to help them thrive in this out of date education system and capitalistic world - not the opposite!

I was talking with a friend last night about our grandparents’ experiences during WWII. 86 years ago, nearly to date, our Government protected children by evacuating them from high risk bombing zones. Today, however, our Government sells arms to Israel, which bombs and starves children. It must stop

Evidence shows that criminalization of abortion drives women and girls towards unsafe procedures – to the detriment of their safety, their health and their rights.

When I order a takeaway, I already know I’m committing to high-calorie consumption for tasty, comforting food. This study found that calorie labelling on menus, to improve knowledge, didn’t encourage healthier choices. I wonder if other nutritional information could have more impact?

Good news from Gates. Would have been even better if there were recognition of the conditions that affect women differently and disproportionately when compared to men (from autoimmunity to mental illness) as well as distinct women's health areas.

I’m always astounded by the lack of SDM when I go to the dentist, even within NHS practices. There’s always very little or no discussion about the available options, including benefits & risks. I never feel like I have any time to decide or make an informed choice. Do others share this experience?

All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

⚠️ 1.3 million people acquired HIV in 2024 alone, including thousands of adolescent girls and young women.

Today, in a landmark move towards HIV prevention, WHO recommends twice-yearly injectable lenacapavir as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to protect people at risk of HIV.
