go @katewharton27.bsky.social ! Would love a copy of that speech! xx
thanks for doing this, although I will say it is not easy to find this directly from your website! I was hoping to point people to this who can't join our in-person course... I will circulate the link...
The massive surge in reported violence towards the minority #Christians in #Syria has put them back in the top ten most vulnerable groups in Open Doors’ World Watch List

If you're British the date is 30/1 ... 😅
@alanlester.bsky.social dismayed to find the Telegraph and Mail are forming the opinions of parishioners and colleagues on the C of E reparations fund, apart from your helpful blog post alanlester.co.uk/blog/policy-... what else can help give the lie to their campaigning ahistorical stance?
The Times today demonstrating how our media have normalised the perverse goal of reducing immigration for its own sake as common sense.
Saw this advertised www.kew.org/kew-gardens/... and wondered if @sathnam.bsky.social is involved, given Empireworld
So worth your time today! I want to make this my perspective going into the new year.
thanks James lots to think about, the thing that gives me pause is that many colleagues (often ones who have been tired and jaded) are reporting more new people coming along week by week - and they were doing so before the Bible Society report came out...
Right now public money fuels private profit while people live in poor conditions. It hurts all our communities. Our report sets out a council-run alternative. Email your MP and ask them to speak about it in Parliament: https://bit.ly/4pFEXly
And a humanist chaplain is free of bias??! I thought this was an interesting riposte to some questions...
I had another thought this morning, as I was praying, that perhaps this reality is part of the reason why humanity needed Jesus to die on the cross (see amzn.eu/d/2ILTiue ) but he chose the sacrifice so we can live free to have the courage and joy to stand for the truth? it's the reverse of Omelas?
I've been thinking about this post since I read it... thank you @karenswallowprior.bsky.social for your challenge, which spreads much further than just the scenarios you talk about!
Layan Nasir, a 25-year Anglican Palestinian, was taken into Israeli custody on Thursday, although she had previously been told that her seven-and-a-half month sentence would not start until November.
@tandhesi.bsky.social how about advocating for your colleague to work with organisations like @refugeeaction.bsky.social ?? I'd love my local MP to lead on this!
Amid all the stuff about ‘dangerous London’ and ‘broken Britain’, new figures show the homicide rate in London is at a 10-year low. Killings dropped by 26% over the last year, from 78 to 58. No one under 25 was murdered during the school summer holidays.
International organisations, including Christian Aid and Caritas, made a joint statement on Wednesday, decrying the restrictions place on aid delivery to Gaza, as Israeli politicians signalled their intention to occupy the territory

Deeply shocked by Israel’s deliberate killing of the Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, his colleague Mohammed Qreiqeh and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa. Israel has now killed at least 186 journalists in this war.
Anthony Aguilar, a retired US special forces officer working with the US & Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation tells the BBC he saw Israeli soldiers shooting at crowds of Palestinians. He’d never witnessed such brutality against an unarmed, starving population, he said.
Two leading Israeli human rights groups, B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights, say Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. In reports published yesterday, the groups say Israel targetted civilians in Gaza solely because of their identity as Palestinians.
it's the preamble from the book that is unnecessary and it could be more copiable (not sure that's a word, but you know what I mean!)...
Honestly I think there's been quite a lot of copy and pasting from books, at least in the liturgy section 😒
Three people died and ten were injured on Thursday after an Israeli strike on the Holy Family Church — the only Catholic Church in Gaza
