A fun race and a great cause! Virtual options too!

It’s wild what we keep in the archives!
A full circle moment. I’m 35 and still have my childhood best friend’s home phone number memorized. This is not a flex; I could use the space.
Things down here are, to my knowledge, the most extreme example of higher education censorship currently in force. They’ve banned almost all content on sexual orientation and gender in teaching, and, in a startling low, grad student research. It’s unconscionable, offensive, and wrong.
Blessed to be an endurance runner with no dreams of running one of the world major marathons. By extension, my family and friends are too.
“Not all men” but enough for 62 million hits in one month on a r*pe academy website. Horrific.
The liminal space between a dissertation defense and internship (complimentary): It’s 67°F and sunny. I’m working in an R script with Philip Glass playing.
Collaborator: “any cite for this model.” Me: “I think this guy.” Other collaborator: “yeah this is the correct citation, but…it’s like citing Pythagoras for triangles.” In the running for one of the best comments I’ve read in a draft 😂💀
It has been an eternity of a season, and yet we live to see another day. Thirty-five points on restricted minutes was cinema 🐐
😂 for me it’s not the varying conscientiousness (though that is at play) but the different levels. I don’t need to know the skill score to know it’s MUCH higher than whatever a nudge to write “Juan come manzanas” gets me.
The notifications are a bit much and honestly irritate me more times than not. The ones I tolerate best are when my husband “nudges me.”
100%! And ugh I am sorry 💔
I’m sure people can do it cheaper and depends where you’re coming from vs where you’re going. But with moving 2500 miles, having some furniture we’d like to hang onto, rent and deposit, etc, it has a price tag!
The cost of moving for internship will be ~40% of my annual stipend. *I* will be fine, but something here about DEIA in clinical psychology
1/2 Today, Gov. Andy Beshear signed House Bills 169 and 178 to enhance coverage for Kentuckians suffering from mental health conditions or eating disorders. The Governor also signed Senate Joint Resolution 139 and let House Bills 6 and 480 lapse, providing insight into each decision.
With the 1st pick of the WNBA Draft, the Dallas Wings select Azzi Fudd!

Six more weekends here. In some ways, it feels like I just settled. I will miss long rides along the Ohio with pals.
SPLASHDOWN!!!
Three cheers for science, engineering, research, curiosity, cooperation.
Look what the fuck we can do when we ask big questions, work together, and fund our scientists.
Congratulations, NASA. Congratulations, humanity!
My response to “how does it feel to have defended your dissertation?” is “great, I now spend much of my time on Zillow” 😵💫
Cathy is one of those people whose curiosity is inspiring, seizes the opportunities in front of her, and is an absolute delight to be around. I can’t wait to follow her next steps and learn from her work! Big congratulations 🤩
Over and around the far side of the moon for you 🌖🖤
So excited for @kefancathywu.bsky.social to join the Suicide Prevention Research Lab!! 🎉
The NSF 2027 budget has noted that they will close out the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Science Program (SBE). This is not a good thing. nsf-gov-resources.nsf.gov/files/FY-202...

Celebrated receiving the P.E.O. Scholar Award with a new to me LP of one of favorite albums 🖤
Our department is developing AI policies and has sections for considerations/guidelines by context (eg research, courses, etc). A draft went around recently so I’m not sure if it’s shareable yet. Lab also creating one, which I think I will be discussed in a summer lab meeting.
I'm always gonna root for Dawn Staley
Bluebells
After my 50 mile race in October, I was burnt out from running and happy to take a break. I’ve slowly been returning, and on my run today, I was so charmed by bluebells and all of spring going for it!
I don’t always have satisfactory answers to these questions, but I don’t have to go far to be reminded that there is value in simply knowing. Events like a space launch around the moon-& all the science that undergirds such an effort-show that discovery for the sake of discovery is worthwhile & rad
As a clinical psych PhD student, at times, I’ve felt tension between my own basic and applied questions. Challenged by “what’s the utility?” “What would a clinician do with this in the therapy room?”
