The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.

We want to train one million Americans in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. This is how we slow down, stop, and ultimately defeat Trump’s authoritarian takeover. 👇
Right back at you and yours, fellow Dan!!
Underrated 4th of July pleasure: eating watermelon all day long.
New — I wrote about how Zohran Mamdani’s win shows the power of a positive vision for the future, New Yorkers’ rejection of fear-based politics, and provides a blueprint for progressive Jews and Muslims to create a multi-racial, multi-faith coalition that supports prosperity for all.

People in wheelchairs are getting arrested right now in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. They showed up to tell Congress not to cut their Medicaid, because they cant afford health care without it. If you look closely you can see the zip ties on their hands. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid
The New York Democratic party is complacent and corrupt as hell, but no one calls it out because the national party isn’t viable without their money.
I realize there isn't some bold maneuver that will result in an immediate tactical victory for them. I really do.
I just wish they realized that this is one of those times when *refusing to be feckless cowards* itself holds innate strategic value.
Walz: "I wouldn't do those town halls if I were them either because they have to defend cutting Medicare, cutting Medicaid, hurting their local public school, fighting a trade war with Canada. Just the nonsense, and defending President Musk."
Walz: "The idea that the secretary of education would not know what IDEA is -- individuals with disability in education act -- that's like your mechanic not knowing how to put air in your tire. And she's in charge of this nation's education progress. It is catastrophic."
"People protesting at Tesla dealerships to oppose Elon Musk's actions in the Trump administration." +12 overall, +72 Dems, +8 ind, -49 Rep
#TeslaTakedown protests are +12 across voters. Republican voters don't love them, of course. So much for the customer being right and the market being free!
"Maine Gov Janet Mills telling Trump that she will 'see him in court' if he tries to cut federal funding to the state." +18 approval overall, +77 among Dems, +13 among indy, -39 among Reps
Efforts to make the Trump regime back the fuck off are popular. We asked about a bunch of them. First stop, Maine Governor Janet Mills is up +33 on telling Trump she'll see him in court.
"Federal workers leading protests against Elon Musk and DOGE's mass firings." +16 overall, +73 Dems, +8 ind, -36 Rep
Federal workers leading protests against DOGE are +16 across voters.
Wanted to dig into whether folks truly see this moment for what it is - a rupture from any recent history & rapid descent to authoritarian rule - and how they feel about it.
Many things you wanted to know about Americans' views but were afraid to ask, survey March 7-10 of 1,188 likely voters. 🧵
We've had our critiques of House Dems in recent days so I want to be really clear: they did their job! They held together to vote no! It was good! The Senate needs to follow their example!
Call your Senator and tell them: stop the dirty CR. And call your House rep to thank them (not Jared Golden).
Friend was just illegally terminated from her federal job by Musk. ILLEGALLY FIRED. @amyklobuchar.com @smith.senate.gov maybe withholding your cloture votes creates leverage to rein Musk in, maybe not. But FFS TRY. Not trying is SO MUCH WORSE than trying and failing.
This is very good. The best piece of communication on this topic from a Democratic senator so far.
Career politician who never served in the military talking about how a draft dodger intuitively understands war.
If Russia or China had invaded the US and installed a tinpot viceroy, how would that be different from the current situation?
Indeed, a White House official told The Free Press that the basis for targeting Khalil is being used as a blueprint for investigations against other students. Khalil is a "threat to the foreign policy and national security interests of the United States," said the official, noting that this calculation was the driving force behind the arrest. "The allegation here is not that he was breaking the law," said the official.
NEW: White House says the arrest and deportation of student activist & legal US resident, Mahmoud Khalil, is a blueprint for more.
The final line here is chilling. The White House specifically says Khalil was not breaking the law.
No evidence, no due process, no crime. He was just disappeared.
What's happening with Canada is not about trade or economics. Trump is trying to break Canada and make it give up its sovereignty because he wants to make the US bigger on a map. He is serious about this and he will inflict pain on us to do it the same way Putin is doing to Russians.
Ahem @smith.senate.gov @amyklobuchar.com you cannot cannot cannot enable this. Your legacy is at stake on this vote.
Thank you!! Please push Senators Smith and Klobuchar to stand strong too!
I saw an 80-year-old friend for the first time since inauguration yesterday, and she told me she and her husband will have to move in with their daughter if Republicans cut Social Security.
I don't take a back seat to anyone on the subject of anti-semitism. Jews are being used here as a fig leaf to advance a broader attack on universities and higher learning. Trump wants to bring Universities to heel and obedience. Jews are just a convenient cudgel here and just as disposable.
This really shouldn't be a complicated decision for @schumer.senate.gov and Senate Dems.
They need to VOTE NO on any Republican spending bill that doesn't rein in Musk.
Can’t believe Twitter keeps crashing despite Elon hiring the best 19-year-old interns that racism has to offer
Yeah it’s a great idea.
