These pastel pencils work for me some days and other days don’t. I think it’s the paper. I need to get pastel mat.

A pastel drawing of Tim Curry as Frank’N’Furter.
Happy birthday, Tim Curry.
I tried, but it’s late in the day and I could spend another hour on this and not make much difference.
A charcoal sketch of Douglas Adams on a black background. His hand looks less like a foot.
I rejigged it last night because I thought his hand looked too much like a foot, plus some other tweaks.
I really should wait before posting because this always happens.
A coloured charcoal sketch of Douglas Adams.
It’s the birthday of Douglas Adams, so I thought I’d give him a go.
Nobody pay attention.

Looking for something to draw, I remembered your post the other day.
Cheers
A colour charcoal drawing of David Lynch.
Since it’s his birthday today, I thought I’d have a go at David Lynch.
A charcoal drawing of a girl’s smiling face.
I did some touchups and finally got round to fixing it and the spray has really dulled it down. I’m a bit annoyed about that.
Thanks. It means a lot coming from another artist.
A coloured charcoal drawing of my daughter on hot pink paper.
I got a larger pack of charcoals, with more colours, and wanted to try using a bright colour paper. I think it’s worked out nicely.
The corners of five drawings only showing signatures and dates, ranging from January 2024 and January 2026.
Two in a week! Five down, three to go. It’s only taken me two years. I’m on a roll.
My signature with the date of 10/25.
I’m speeding up, knocked this one out in about two and a half hours. Three down, five to go.
A drawing of three inflatable frogs, holding a sign saying ‘frogs together strong’.
Frogs together strong.
Inspired by events in Portland.
A drawing of the monkey with some pencils positioned alongside.
A close up of the drawing of the monkey with some pencils positioned alongside, because why not.
I used some new coloured charcoal pencils I bought a while back that I hadn’t got round to trying out yet.
A charcoal drawing on black paper of the money from The Monkey.
Watched The Monkey the other day, a dark comedy horror about an evil mechanical monkey. Very good of you like Final Destination style stuff. 🐵 🥁
My signature with the date 01/24
My signature with the date 01/24
A while back, I came up with the idea for a series of 8 drawings I wanted to do and excitedly went straight into the first one… then stopped.
Tonight, I thought I’d continue, and bashed out the second. I just finished, and noticed the dates.
Two down, six to go, expect the complete set by 2037.

A caricature of my dad’s wife as a gnome.
A caricature of my dad as a gnome.
This was meant to be a Christmas present, but I was ill and only got round to doing it last week. As they’ve now got it in the mail, I can post it here - My dad and his wife as gnomes (which she loves).
A pencil drawing of a water sprite from Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1.
Right, let’s bring everything up to date. A couple of weeks ago, I drew this thing for my daughter. If you play Fortnite, you know what this little guy is.
A pencil drawing of a vault dweller from Fallout 4, with the face of my nephew.
Forgot to post this a while back. It was my nephew’s birthday and he’s a big fan of Fallout, so I turned him into the Sole Survivor. I knocked it out in an evening, but wish I’d had more time, it doesn’t feel right and I don’t quite know why. - 100724
A loose pen sketch of a town pub.
Tested out my new fountain pen, but still not brave enough to commit to using watercolours, it seems a lot of faff, so coloured this with markers. - 100524
A Platinum Carbon Desk Pen and carbon ink.
In my ever widening search to explore different styles, I’ve bought a fancy fountain pen, a Platinum Carbon Desk Pen, along with some supposedly waterproof Carbon Ink. The plan is to outline and then watercolour, we’ll see how that goes. - 230424
I’m not convinced by the acrylics, I think I’d get more detail with pencils. I’ll give it another go at some point. - 110424
The reversed images of The Beatles, painted onto a styrene sheet.
Shrinking Ringo with a heat gun.
Curing the resin coating under a UV lamp.
The finished pin badges.
Acrylics onto styrene sheets, shrink ‘em down, resin front and back - with a pin, and Bob’s your uncle. - 110424
Four home made acrylic badges of the Beatles walking across the zebra crossing on Abbey Road.
I’ve had an idea bouncing around for a while and finally decided to quickly try it out - Beatles badges. - 110424
A pencil portrait of an old man in a hat with white beard.
I’ve quickly realised that people are more than happy to receive art as gifts. Here’s a portrait of my Dad that I did for his birthday. - 130324
A small sketch of an eye, with "Beans, Potato" and something else listed underneath.
A little eye doodle on my shopping list. - 280224
A pencil and marker drawing of baked beans on toast.
I had beans on toast for lunch yesterday, so I drew some. - 210224
