Because way too many people got comfortable with the status quo. The attitude of 'I'm doing good so things must be ok for everyone"
"No child left behind," replacing textbooks in classrooms with chromebooks and tablets has damaged young adults and kids' ability to think for themselves to process tge information
Trump's DOJ....Trump's IRS....Trump's federal agencies; whose supposed to enforce tgat again?
How can this still be a thing when tennessee does not require you to declare any parry affiliation when you register to vote?
There is no one in any position of authority to stop him. Trump controls all the brakes that would prevent this, and he's cut the brake line.
Alito and Thomas will retire before the start of the next SCOTUS session 3 months before mid-terms. The GOP won't take any chances with Democrats winning back the Senate, then blocking and nominees.
Republicans will have the new nominees through committee and confirmed before mid-October.
Do the trick to do what? Vance swoops in and cast the tie breaker. It still passes. Need more than the Senator from Alaska to vote No.
And, I do not know where YOU got the impression I said anything in support of or celebrating the South.
Nothing I wrote implied or endorsed the Southern attitude of celebrating the Confederacy. I told you the South didn't see it as losing the war. They played the long game.
We've established facts do not matter to those of a certain mindset. I would burn the Confederacy to the ground and all those that hold it up as some noble thing.
The Union Army should have burned it all to the ground.
They do act like it's a sincerely held religious belief. I personally think they've all been dropped on their heads as infants and taught that they are entitled to be superior.
When not a person among them is fit to clean a toliet.
Hon, the people who romanticized the Confederacy do not believe the South lost the war. They lost a battle. They played the long game. Thier children and grandchildren are running the federal government
How the heck did you get THAT impression??
I could go on concerning this topic, but as a person born and raised in the South (TN) from a family with both sides harking all the way back to before TN was a state, the deeply held beliefs were "The South shall rise again"
The people who held those beliefs lead our government today.
Not only shrugged, they sanctioned it with the SCOTUS blessing segregation through Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896.
Next time we see the Klan, is 1915, when Birth of a Nation brought us a heavily white washed, romanticized view of the South. Rise of organizations such as The Daughters of the Confederacy
The birth of the Klan, its first iteration, was crushed in 1871 before the end of Reconstruction in 1877. The first Jim Crow law was passed in right after, in 1877.
Poll taxes were enacted across the South. All of this was done by the "loser" Confederacy and the Federal government shrugged.
People of the time that were the Confederacy did not concede they lost. They licked their wounds during Reconstruction, and when the federal government ended that period, the men and women of the former Confederacy went right back to business as usual. Jim Crow laws and poll taxes;
They were erected and built to change the narrative for the generations that did not live through the events of the war and the aftermath, through Reconstruction.
Neither has been charged/convicted of conspiracy to make false claims, theft of government property, or illegal soliciting of campaign contributions. Members of Congress do not lose their pension for being sex pests.
Both men served enough time in Congress to qualify for their pensions. Neither man has been charged with or convicted of offenses such as bribery, perjury, racketeering, conspiracy to defraud the government, treason/espionage;
The Civil War never ended. The folks that romanticized the Confederacy are now in charge of our federal government.
In reference to the Epstien files and all the outrage over the past seven years, powerful men are being held accountable now as a result of the those 7 years.
So, no, it is not strange or odd for Swalwell to be dragged out and held accountable.
As long as we live in a patriarchal society, this will continue to be the reality.
Not really. All the uproar and rage over the Epstien files, demanding accountability. All that made it possible for this to happen. Hold ALL men accountable, no matter their political party? Isn't that what democrats/liberals/progressives voters have been screaming since forever?
This is the outcome
Gas prices did hit an average high of $5.03, in June 2022. Just one month. The rest of the time,
On average, from May 2021 to right now, the price of gas has been over $3.
This is from the EIA.
Buying a presidential pardon MIGHT a crime, but here's the catch, the President can pardon any crime committed or suspected of being committed in the process of obtaining said pardon. Remember, a presidential pardon power is absolute and cannot be revoked
So, you think the President could be charged with accepting a bride to perform an official act within their constitutional authority? Not possible. Thanks to 2024 decision handed down by the Supreme Court, presidents enjoy absolute immunity for official acts within their constitutional authority.
Just as Congress can not legislatively constrain a President's pardon power, the courts can not undue a President's pardon. All the courts can do is determine if it is constitutional valid. They cannot override a pardon, nor undue it.
You would be remembering incorrectly. A person does not have to be convicted of a federal crime, let alone be charged with federal crime, in order to receive a presidential pardon.
Because that isn't how presidential pardons work. Only one way to undue a presidential pardon and that is by impeaching the president while in office. Vance is the current VP, next in line for POTUS. He would not dream of undoing anything Trump does.
