Archiefveroorzaker klinkt een stuk cooler dan archiefvormer!
Oooooohhhhh! So jealous!
Same with highschool teachers. One of us would always stand watch in the girls' locker room after PE, in case the creepy teacher would walk in asking who had left her watch. Like we would not notice it was always the same watch.
Exactly. Virtue signalling to the max.
The entitlement is just insane. If you want to buy someone a sandwich, just buy someone a sandwich. Don't shove a camera in their faces and make them unpaid actors in your own drama.
I've unfollowed several YouTubers who thought that buying someone a sandwich or socks earned them the right to a person's life story, including broadcasting. Many people prey on other people's misery for clicks.
Awesome! Next birthday: shelves!
Growing up, we did not do major gift-giving at Christmas. Everybody just got a book, and we'd spend the rest of the day reading. It was perfect!
Fascinating they used songs for propaganda. Reminds me of this one, from the other side.

Het ligt er ook aan wat het doel van het spel is natuurlijk; alleen vestingbouw of ook belegeringen en zo. Ik ben benieuwd wat het wordt; veel succes gewenst.

12½ years ago, I made a map of all the buildings in the Netherlands. Unexpectedly, people loved it!
Ever since, I have been wanting to make an updated version of the map. Newer data, higher resolution, more interactive! I never got around to it, until last week: bertspaan.nl/buildings
I am looking for everyone that left cool records. From criminals and prostitutes to crusaders and queens.
we’ve got human beings on the dark side of the moon but microsoft word will still not let me add a comment to a footnote
“Mömpelgard” is German for Montbéliard, which became an autonomous region that belonged to the counts of Württemberg through marriage. So it's all the same family. See for example

Oh, that sounds like a great one to research. I love researching scoundrels, probably because I have so many of them 😂
Lots of people migrated to the larger cities in the west for work. And would then have contacts in their place of origin where they would send for more people if they needed more workers/colleagues.
It is available as audiobook. That's how I am rereading it at the moment, through my StoryTel subscription. I have the hardcopy but was looking for something to listen to.
All my father's 3000+ ancestors I have identified so far are from within 25 miles where he was born. Most within 3 miles. Many were serfs until the 1600s or 1700s, bound to the farm/land. My ancestors probably go back in that place to the early medieval period, if not earlier. VERY stable.
Yes, I read that too. My ancestors were the ones who never went anywhere, so I never considered geography that much. Grandma's line lived on the same farm for 350+ years! That's 60 miles north of the Neander Valley so I sometimes joke that's how far my family has migrated since the dawn of time 😂
Yes, me too. It has made me consider geography more in my own research.
I sometimes wonder how we will look back on this period ten years from now. What patterns will we see then that are not obvious to us now. My current take is that chaos is the goal.
Ditto for common sense!
