For the record, Robin Ince is a superb comedian, an absolute mensch, a remarkable thinker and the kindest human you’ll ever meet. And the BBC is a genuinely great and globally unique institution that needs to stop being afraid. I think that’s where most of its faults and issues stem from.

Wonderful to welcome drama teachers to @royalholloway for their annual conference
It was a real pleasure to read the work and hear about progress. Good luck with the next stages @pdwebster.bsky.social
Yes, me too. I remember suggesting Julius Caesar as it was on the syllabus, and it was performed thrillingly in the very unprepossessing environment of the school hall. Stunning performance.
New horizons- happy new year everyone
Well folks, today marks the last day of full-time work after 43 years and 4 months. I’ve loved it all, and worked with some brilliant, creative and kind students and colleagues. Tomorrow I’ll be part time (3 days) for the first time. Feels a bit sad, but I’m not going anywhere yet…
It ends up sounding paternalistic at best, or patronising. .. especially when it comes from people with social privilege. Or just vague, like 1970s beauty queens.
Very interesting- and yes, agree. The issue is also that there are often a lot of platitudes, such as wanting to ‘change the world’ without any clear articulation of what they want to change, why, and how they will do it.
Yes - thank you- back on with a glare at midnight!!
Power cut day two. It’s like olden days.
Power cut.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

So much better…
