I gotta commend the engineers at Twitter that perfectly formulated a site that causes instant dysphoria the second it is opened 🫡

Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free & Borrowable Texts, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine

Huge fan of the evangelion picture books, they were some of the earliest things I scanned (though I never nabbed the Shinji one 😛)

Every second that I use Windows I come that much closer to saying fuck it and moving to Linux. If Photoshop wasn't actually necessary for my scanning workflow I woulda moved forever ago

Since I haven’t been able to sleep on my front for a couple years, I’ve been ensconcing myself in pillows to get some of that same front+back pressure. Having something that doesn’t move when I thrash is a big upgrade (pregnancy pillows arranged in circle under heavy duvet)

Joey will be making their annual trip to their US mailbox in mid-May for a magazine pickup
If you have items you would like to donate for scanning, it's a great chance to take advantage of Media Mail (for which I am happy to pay) so please get in touch if there's anything you'd like to send my way!

A bunch of Nice Things in a Nice Things folder for Nice Things. How Nice.

Infrequent reminder that The Stacks has a guest book! Comments about my work and projects keep me going (and I keep a bunch of them in a folder to look at when I'm down) so I'd always be touched to receive more 💛

😡

😡

Even at my new GP (I was referred as his is a gender-conscious and affirming practice), the receptionists only call me by my legal name and with a pointless, misgendering honourific. They asked for my chosen name when I first came in!!! They asked for my pronouns!!! I have an X on all my documents!!

Like I was content to wait until immigration was done but it has become increasingly apparent that actually institutions and businesses that claim to be supportive (and do not need my legal name anywhere) don't actually care about doing people a kindness

I've started the process for a legal name change, almost entirely spurred on by the YMCA assuring me they'd put my chosen name and (legal) X gender on my profile and then them simply not doing that.

And though it’s fun to see a million jump ramps, the game is far more compelling with sharing turned off. Building roads becomes a compounding to-do list and the back and forth makes you more familiar with the totality of the map

The narrative has fallen completely on its face but maybe that's because it's harder to suspend my disbelief when I have a yellow-paint character on my hip and everything is said with a smirk and wink as if to convey "this is pretty wacky, huh?"

For as much as I'm enjoying it, Death Stranding 2 sure does feel like a fan sequel. The shift from 'the walking is the game' to 'the logistics of moving between nodes is the game' is largely welcome (though I liked the walking..) if diminished in part by the online and innumerable QoL changes.

While I make this pile slowly smaller, I'll have something up in the next day or two for the PaRappa/Greenblatt fans..

The Phantom Ship (1982) 1940 was a curious year to be starting a publishing company, but especially one in Tokyo. This was in the midst of WW2, and the same year Italy, Germany, and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact. Censo…

Next on All the Adventures, I embark on a story that starts during WW2 and the founding of a publishing company

passing through accounting textbooks and innovations in erotic scholarship

and landing at the first all-text adventure game written in Japanese.

LRP: People LOVE to discard or gloss over the work of archivists and preservationists so they themselves can claim they ‘found’ something. It’s incredibly annoying and shows people do not actually value archival labour besides as a means to an end of producing content.

You "found and preserved" the tape our charity found and preserved? Are you taking credit for our work? You're even using the same thumbnail as our blog post. gamehistory.org/maxivision-p...
