As one of the comments says, people complain about the algorithm, but it has its moments.

John Venn, of Venn Diagram fame, built a cricket machine that has been recreated at @standupmaths.bsky.social's suggestion & tested by @robeastaway.bsky.social. Definitely the sort of news that should be covered by @zaltzcricket.bsky.social on @thebugle.bsky.social .

Is Trump resurrecting Jeffrey Epstein?
If we're going to get a la carte about which EU rules we follow we should take this opportunity to set up a state building company and start lashing out homes at a rate of knots. We can ask for forgiveness afterwards, right?
I really do believe this is true. I'm sure that not everybody who turned up to protest has fascist leanings, but if you pulled your truck up next to one that said "Ireland for the Irish" and you don't leave, are you better than the owner of that truck?
Henry VIII wrote Greensleeves as a means of alerting his subjects that ice cream was nearby
I do hope that the reason all the tractors are empty, is because they are all up at the blood donation clinic that is about 100m from where they are protesting. That would be an obvious thing you could do to help Ireland while sitting around.
I've been for a look at the protest on O'Connell Street a couple of times, and I don't see any messages in solidarity with homelessness, renters or any similar group. The only non-fuel related messages do not indicate keeping good company. The handwritten one has been there for days...
It's similar on O'Connell Street.
I asked in the IBTS clinic on D'Olier Street if they had many people in from the Dublin protest in to donate, but they hadn't. If someone wants to do something to help Irish people, and they're able to give blood, then making an appointment to donate would be a decent decision www.giveblood.ie
You may feel powerless to respond to hate but you are not.
One small thing you can do, which will make a real difference, is donate to the Muslim Sisters of Éire.
I just did it, and it only takes a moment.
These incredible women show up day after day to feed unhoused people.

Just an ordinary hardworking man.
I thought all it would take to end the protests was a meeting with gov?
Now it seems it will also take:
-oil & gas exploration off west coast
-Abolition of carbon tax
-Price caps on fuel
-Wider undefined cost of living supports
…and as of this morning, bringing down the government
I might not have the regular Irish Times column that Steen has, but I do have quite a bit more than a few anecdotes to back up what I say. Maria Steen thinks the #genderPayGap is a myth but that is a hopelessly basic and naive take. Here is why.

I see one of the “fuel” protests leader is a John Dallon of Castledermot. I wonder if this is the same John Dallon of Castledermot.

The fuel protest, which began with serious and legitimate concerns about the cost of fuel and living, had more or less been hijacked by the anti-migrant, anti LGBTQI, anti woke, ‘Ireland First’ far right. This is losing the protestors a lot of support, as it should #fuelprotest

I do have a solution though. The council should declare tomorrow "tag a tractor day" - leave your vehicle parked in the middle of a throughfare in Dublin if you want it to be randomly spray painted.
Is it just me, or are a lot of the vehicles in the protest very shiny? If you can afford to buy and keep shiny equipment like that, I'm surprised the cost of fuel is your biggest outgoing.
I fully support people's right to protest but I don't support far right bullshit pretending to be about farmers and hauliers and I can't recall another protest ever being allowed to bring the city to a halt for 36 hours and still going without any consequences whatsoever
Road Traffic Act 1961.
98.—(1) A person shall not do any act (whether of commission or omission) which causes or is likely to cause traffic through any public place to be obstructed.
(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) of this section shall be guilty of an offence.
So arrest them.
You know that these fuel protests have far right loons at the heart of them because the Guards and the media are treating them like they are family members airing a grievance at Christmas dinner instead of calling for the army to shell them

Billions of dollars well spent, I'm sure.
For the second example, I had a memory of seeing a film with a lightsaber fight where someone uses the force to block someone swing a lightsaber. It parrots the question back but then answers the question where the lightsaber blocks the attack, rather than the other way around.
Two AI examples from last week. In the first, for somewhat obvious reasons, I wanted to know a list of wars the US had turned up a little late to. It decided to give me a list of wars the US had been involved in, and couldn't tell the different between WWI and WWII in a way that was obviously wrong.
Is that a photo of me not making a weird face?! I didn't think it was possible. I guess @tudublin.bsky.social just brought it out in me 😂 I thoroughly enjoyed being part of TU Dublin's International Women's Day celebrations.
