Is there a possibility that this is about subpoenaing the names of the informants? If so, what kind of danger is there that this might happen, especially through a shadow docket accommodation?

I wonder what horrible thing he was unwilling to do.
I love the NeverTrumpers, but one of the things that drives me nuts is when that cohort of Reagan-era conservatives looks around and goes, “Hey, who are all these guys around me trying to rebuild the Confederacy? I’ve never noticed them before…”
Conservatism wasn’t about what you think it was.
He knew that Apple’s innovative vision died with Jobs, and so simply milked what he had in a high-quality way.
Someone should start a site listing those law firms not yet caught using AI to write briefs.
Whatever happens, Alito will make sure he is replaced by Worse Alito.
I’m going to guess this is unverified, because if this is an accurate report then every remaining vestige of the fourth estate would be shitting their collective pants.
Okay I snort-laughed…
Agree, but we now an unengaged electorate, or merely a decadent one? Do people “not know the difference,” as Sorkin said in American Prez, or do they know and just feel they were going to get something out of Trump II?
If your identity in society is what team you’re on, that’s not disengagement.
Here’s an idea for a law:
If you bring a defamation suit and lose, a damages judgment for the defendant is entered against you that is the precise amount you originally sought.
If you just say the opposite:
“I am losing this war, BY A LOT. Shit’s hitting the fan. Our military did not blow up the civilian infrastructure I asked them to, and even the increasingly conservative publications agree we’re fucked. The enemy sees through me, and I am powerless to open the strait…”
Endgame II: The Search for More Money
Yes to all this.
“People don’t drink the sand because they’re thirsty. People drink the sand because they don’t know the difference.”
-Aaron Sorkin
Word.
Abortion apposition was not one issue among many but the crown jewel of conservative rationalization.
Now that they won the battle, and the gay marriage issue has largely quieted, conservatives struggle to explain why they still deserve say-so in society.
“Woke-ism” is all they have left.
The more I think about voters, the more I remember that Sorkin line:
“People don’t drink the sand because they’re thirsty. They drink the sand because they don’t know the difference.”
If you know, you know.
Wanted to watch the world burn and successfully brought it about.
I had to think about #2. Then I laughed.
Hey, Netflix: Kastigir needs a spinoff series!
Yep.
Also, don’t his people know he can’t read?
The CFA, like many government and non-profit bodies, are now stuffed with Trump loyalists.
The the next Dem administration must fire all of them and staff them legitimately.
But they will not, because of the fear of looking political.
One of the main problems of social media is that over-broad strawman arguments seem more valid. Ppl try to argue “Reagan was 100% bad,” and that’s easy to swat. But the fact that he was, e.g., enamored of John Birch materials is uncontested; was recorded in conservative Max Boot’s biography.
It’s a great movie. The values of drinking, partying, and womanizing lead to victory over tyranny.
Who knew all this time I was exercising virtue?
This analysis is giving me 2024 electron PTSD…
As weird as it feels to say I want to be more like a 20-something figure skating champion, Alysa Liu has the most internal locus of control I’ve ever seen; a sense of “fuck off” that frees her mind to achieve.
I’m buying what she’s selling.
I could watch this all day.
Well put.
