Think fighting a Denver parking ticket is easy? Think again.

Budget cuts killed the online dispute system, forcing nearly 900 people a month to go to court in person just to prove their innocence. Fix coming “end of summer 2026.”

Would you spend half a day in court to save $35?

A Denver driver was hit with a $102 ticket for a violation you can barely see with the naked eye. We headed to Champa St. to take a look, and the company eventually admitted the ticket never should have been written.

Is it a financial lifeline or a debt trap?
A Centennial couple is suing after an "interest-free" home equity deal for $87k turned into a possible $278k bill. The federal lawsuit filed in Denver argues these "investments" are actually loans that dodge consumer protections.

A viewer found land survey markers with “Let’s Go Brandon” and “FJB” on them in Denver’s Country Club neighborhood. We’re curious who put them there.

Heads up if you park in #Denver. We found these 10 days after someone filed a 311 complaint about them. Who knows how many people scanned them in the meantime.

In our competitive society, where it seems that only the strong and winners deserve to live, sport also teaches us how to lose. It forces us, in learning the art of losing, to confront our fragility, our limitations and our imperfections. It is through the experience of these limits that we open our hearts to hope. Athletes who never make mistakes, who never lose, do not exist.

DIA wants to be the airport of the future. I really preferred the airport of the past.

“It could be in your fridge right now. What is it? And what will it do to you? We’ll tell you tonight at 10.”

Could a headline/graphic/post be any more clickbaity?

As an industry, we have to find a better way.

Stop badgering people who've just been through the worst. Stop showing up unannounced.

Start being trauma-informed.

I'll never quote them unless they know they're being quoted. I won't creep around their house.

Unfortunately, Colorado has a history of horrific incidents and I've gotten to know a few victims. They've told me stories of the secondary trauma they feel from this kind of reporting

I research. See if I can find an obvious family spokesperson. I send that person a message or try to call. If I can't find one, I try to send a text message or leave a voicemail explaining who I am.

I'll never surprise someone...

I've always tried to approach these stories with a trauma-informed mindset. Victims have been through one of the worst moments of their life... the last thing they want is some surprise on their doorstep begging them to sit in lights in front of a camera and tell their story.

Most local reporters I know do this much differently than our national counterparts for two reasons:

- This is our community and these are our neighbors
- We know that we'll be covering this story for the long haul.

This has happened during every tragedy I've covered. I remember vividly listening to a national reporter ask the family member of a woman killed in the King Soopers shooting if they watched a livestream of the shooting... a day after the shooting.

The reporter who wrote the story brags on his LinkedIn bio that he "parachutes in" to communities to cover crises.

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of people parachuting in to my community for a "scoop" with little care for the impact their tactics have on a community.

Hearing about some pretty disgusting tactics being used by national media to try to interview victims of the Boulder attack...including a report about a Holocaust survivors "first words spoken publicly" since the attack.

I'm told she didn't realize she was being quoted...

Denver area journalists: I’m once again asking you to look at a map before saying a company is based in Englewood.

Red Robin’s website lists an Englewood mailing address, but it’s near Dry Creek and I-25. It’s in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

Embarrassing loss for the Avalanche tonight. That’s gonna be tough to recover from. 0/6 on the PP including a double minor at the end of the hockey game.

I have questions. Like… what other species care for giraffes in this country. And how old are their giraffes?
