It’s the chicken I’m worried about, they’re not designed for supersonic speeds.
Thank you, yes designed it in CAD and this is the first one.

Looking down at a coffee table with a rounded and chamfered top.
A coffee table from the side.
A close up of the joinery under a coffee table.
The side profile of a coffee table, the legs are angled out at 20°
More work on the coffee table today, I’d planned to go hard on the chamfer on the underside of the top, but got here and stopped. Still needs oiling. #woodworking #furniture #cornwall
Oh bugger.
Thank you. Some skill, but mainly lots of posh tools and overthinking.
Thanks mate.
Haha. Yup, exactly how I operate too.
No that bit is glued and sanded, but there’s two pairs of these crossing in the middle that I now need to glue. I daren’t dry fit as I might not get it apart. I’ll be sweating for sure.
Thanks mate, hoping to have it finished in the next day or two, bit nervous about the glue-up.
Two pieces of oak connected at a 25° angle, using a mortice and tennon join with a circular dowel through the corner.
Really pleased with this bit of joinery on my coffee table. It’s French oak with a maple dowel pin through the tennon. I made the dowel from reclaimed floorboards rescued from a sports hall in Truro. #woodworking
Result!!
That was what I failed to do, I was so emotionally involved and determined to make it work in some shape or form I just fought on. Sounds like you've got a much better perspective than I did. Apologies for unsolicited advice, I've just spent a lot of time lately reflecting on my failures.
Oh eck. I wish I'd paused and gone back to web work for a while instead of just mindlessly persevering. I ended up doing work I didn't really want to do without really considering viability. No harm in stepping back and reassessing, especially whilst the business is in its infancy.
Are things going okay though?
It is, but I gave it a good go. Slightly nervous about the new job, I’ve not been employed for decades, but the people seem nice, the work is varied and it will be a delight to have dependable income.
Thank you kindly (*strokes them). Alas no, I’ve wound up the business, just couldn’t make it work. I am going to be an on-site carpenter at a Hogwarts type school.
Two pairs of coffee table legs made from Oak, one is joined the other is not and the tennon is visible.
I am making a coffee table. As I have been relieved of the pressures of running a carpentry business it has been a joy from the outset. Here is a picture of the legs. Enjoy these legs at your leisure.

This is what I’m working my way back to. Sick of the subscription drain.
♥️
Surfing being one of them.
Aye, bloody cars. It’s frustrating, I can almost manage without, it’s just the odd thing.
I now need a new car and I am not up for this battle.
My old Mercedes estate has given up the ghost. A long list of fixes required to get it through its MOT, I shed a tear, it has worked hard, a robust and resilient vehicle. However it does smell of old meat.
A picture of the book Salt Lick by Lulu Allison with a grubby hand doing a thumbs up in front of it.
@biggreenbooks.bsky.social Got it! Thank you so much!
Yup, mine is Paradroid, though I have a feeling it might’ve been C64 not Amiga.
Magic, thank you!
I only got that bloody job didn't I? Terrible money, but after years of stress and unreliable income running my own business it'll be lovely to clock-in, work, clock-out and know that I can pay the mortgage at the end of the month. Might even get a chance to surf.
