Surely no-one believes this themselves, do they? They assert it, yes, because it's in their interest to do so, but to be stupid enough to actually believe it...?

Oh, that is a very sad loss indeed.

Yes. It does. Thank you.

Can confirm. Back in my days working for a certain independent bookshop we’d be sent to the big chains undercover to buy copies of (say) the new Happy Potter at their insane mark down prices, and pay for them with book tokens. The only way to make selling them profitable for us.

I mean - yeah, but also everyone else.

(Don't like the idea of you talking behind my back 😅)

You always get a lot of angry replies here if you complain about the Greens blocking solar farms or power grid upgrades. Maybe they should stop instigating pile-ons and start instigating pylons.

Oh Bluesky hive mind - I’m looking for recommendations for heat pump/battery/solar consulting for my London Victorian era home - I’d like to swap out gas boiler for heat pump, ideally have a battery and either have solar or definitely be able to go there in the future

Cat plaintively begging at window to be let in from the cold snowy outdoors, alongside a sticker stuck to the window showing the same cat in the exact same pose. (She has her own door, she just prefers staff to accommodate her wishes)

(I quite like this one too -from the innocent bygone era when Cat Twitter was a thing - the sticker was part of her merch!)

Bought a laptop recently, and the microphone doesn't work. The AMOUNT of work (that almost certainly won't help) Acer are making me do, before they will agree to take it away and fix it....😠

(this is their second barrage of gobbledegook - in response to me telling them the first lot did nothing)

It's vile, isn't it? If it's bad for humans (heaven help the staff) - what is it like for the chickens?

Ammonia pollution hotspots found in areas of UK with most pig and poultry factory farms Map reveals most severe concentrations of ammonia emissions, which are dangerous to health and environment

A developer was refused permission to build houses on a infill site about 1/2 mile from one of these hell-sheds, up the road from me. Reasoning: the shed having more neighbours affected by the pollution would be dangerous - to the chicken farm! 🤦🤦🤦 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Had an excellent meal in an inexplicably empty restaurant (must have been b/c Easter as food, service and prices were all terrific*) and the absolute PLEASURE of being able to chat easily. Usually I find eating out exhausting and frustrating.

And the bench was padded!

Maybe it something to do with neurotypology? Perhaps most people find it helpful?

(having once again tried to buy some shoes that fit me this morning, I am well aware that in a number of repects, I am an outlier)

At the risk of sounding all of my 6[redacted] years, why oh why does learning about radiator sizing etc require a snappy beat? Why do <people making programmes for> the BBC feel we will understand blood cholesterol better with a guitar soundtrack overlaying the explanation of HDL vs LDL?

Watching a video about some (excellent!) technical research and alas, the university involved has splashed some of the dissemination budget on a 'professional' production, which means playing music over the voices of the scientists. Now playing: Ibiza-themed synth vibes ft. air permeability.
