Its amazing when applying POSIWID to your own discipline how quickly people will try to shut down your voice. We don't help people learn systems thinking. We recruit them into following alleged ST 'heroes' and reinforce that illusion by encouraging mimicking of their work.

The system health check, based on the #viablesystemmodel is a crucial part of the Creating the Conditions for Change© approach. It was originally what I called 'relationship mode VSM' and was combined with my approach to systemic inquiry. It gives great insight into your complex situation.

As we engage in systems change, adaptive learning and application of #systemsthinking I tell my students that your true underlying intentions will shine through at some point. If you are not authentically empathetic, it will come through in your work. People will see it. You cannot hide it.

Who are you? Tales from ‘Crossing the Bridge’ and the ‘Creating the Conditions©’ series of systems thinking approaches. It’s a strange phenomenon – the erosion of the individual and their unique thinking and style. I stand back and watch it with sadness in the arena of systems thinking. There are two ways I see this…

How to Survive the Broligarchy Three months ago, I warned we were entering the age of technoauthoritarianism. It's now here. We can and must fight back.

NEW: In November, I wrote a Guardian column headlined 'How to Survive the Broligarchy'. Pretty much everything predicted has now come true. What I'm launching today is part handbook, how to protect ourselves? And part manifesto, how to fight back? Please join me.

A diagram I co-enacted with my students (aged 14). It has a stock and flow diagram showing how oxygen moves from alveoli, to blood, to cells, and is finally consumed in cell respiration.
Below, there is a diagram that contrasts the layers of cells in alveoli (one layer) and skin (many), the blood flow rate between the two, and the high surface area of alveoli.

Alveolar diffusion: Without any slides, we laid a path in conversing & drawing.
It began with stocks & flows; students identified the flows (the last one was tricky).
We then contrasted alveoli with skin to vary the key aspects.
