Not a common favorite, I imagine. But Anna Stesia from lovesexy is my go to. The build up of the arrangement is stunning.

This is monstrous. Just profoundly shameful behavior by our government.

You’d file Meat Loaf under C?
Hahaha. Well played.
Bat Out of Hell is the first album I ever wore out. I had an Elvis centerpiece at my bar mitzvah. There’s nothing you can say that could reduce my love.
I always go back to Elvis Costello and Meat Loaf. Where do you file them?
It should be waiting for me when I get back to Abu Dhabi. I’m curious how Ronen writes about one of the craziest concert experiences I’ve had.
I’ve been alphabetizing by first letter since HS. Elvis Costello E. Elvis Costello & the Attractions E. Meat Loaf M. Sun Ra S. Snoop Dogg S. The XX X.

Re-listening for the first time in ages. In retrospect, would you call what she’s doing on Cracking “rapping”?
This was the soundtrack of the beginning of my all-college relationship
“Surveillance culture: It sucks.”
So why do you try to drop a few hundred cookies on me for reading an article you promoted @stereogum.com ?
Silence won't protect you from Donald Trump.
So you might as well fight back.
The Veldt are still playing. Nice. Chronically underrated band
Cook. Figured you might know but wanted to make the connect if not.
Grijalva to RFK Jr: "You apparently once cut the penis off a roadkill raccoon"
It’s hard to dig thru following lists here. But do you @melvingibbs.bsky.social of Harriet Tubman is here?
I don’t actually remember! It makes sense they might have done a continuous disco mix
Lincoln Center announced Summer for the City today and globalFEST is proud to present a pan-African triple bill on Saturday August 1: Elida Almeida (Cabo Verde), Sinkane (Sudan/US), and Saha Gnawa (Morocco/US)
I’m coming in for it

Thievery is back this summer, also Moby, Pet Shop Boys. Not sure where I’ll be for all of those. Considering Megadeth and Sepultura but may just listen from outside.
There’s a festival called Release which coverts a concrete plaza near an old marina near the Niarchos Cultural Center. Mostly metal but a few choice other shows. Last summer we saw Massive Attack, Thievery Corp with Black Pumas, and The Smile / Pulp.
It has a very specific kind of 90s / aughts nostalgia
Is this coddling, or is this a version of how it should be for more academics at less well filthy rich universities too, as well as for other fields as well.
I’m sharing first, listening later.
Because like Spike Lee films, whether it works fully or not, the ride will be worthwhile.
(Also I’m out to dinner)
The American people do not want our tax dollars being sent to Netanyahu’s government that massacres innocent people in Lebanon and Iran, covers up a genocide in Gaza, and drags the US deeper into an illegal war. The days of Congress sending blank checks to the Israeli military are over.
40 Senate Democrats voted for Sen. Sanders’ bill to block arms sales to Israel, a 50% increase in Democratic support from the last Senate vote.
But in yet another act of failed leadership, Schumer voted against the bill — along with Blumenthal, Coons, Cortez Masto, Fetterman, Gillibrand, and Rosen.
Athens nostalgia is delivering for me. (This summer, David Byrne, Nick Cave, and Gorillaz/Flaming Lips already on tap)
I would like to be presenting the shows I planned, however.
