That's not too much past 500. If you make it to 500, another 80 will be a cake walk

Cheat Death resets your counter to 0, so if you died on day 120, you have to make it to day 620 to get the achievement. Cheat Death also completely disables the 1000 day achievement for that run. At least, thats my understanding

I've seen a bear several times near the trader box, but usually right before or right after I drop hides/meat/fish into the trade. I think she can smell that stuff from far away and comes to investigate. Now I always keep my flaregun out when I'm dropping stuff off
