"What is your problem, I am chilling. I am literally just chilling here. They have COUCHES, do you honestly think that you outrank that."

Tying this to national id also makes it de facto punishment and discrimination against migrants.
Imagine being of irregular status and trying to seem asylum but you can't even access the Internet to look anything up or contact anyone. This is what this means. This is an intended feature.
I try to keep organized with critters who have requests, but especially if I haven't been able to talk over the commission much, being spread across many different messaging services, sometimes I might lose track of a conversation.
If that happens you are always fine to poke and remind me :3
I'm getting caught up on commissions, so I'm gonna try to be reaching out to commissioners that have been waiting on estimates for a while.
If you're in that camp and you don't get a message from me over the weekend, feel free to ping me and ask! <3
Sponsors for comics get access to the WIPs as I draw each comic, and early access to the finished comics as well! A lot of my original comics and settings are funded directly by supporters, so if they're something you enjoy, consider helping sponsor something! :3
A wolf pins down a bunny and growls menacingly at them while they stutter an stammer. "You're gonna slip right down my throat~", the wolf teases. The bunny blushes and the wolf continues, "And then my acid is going to rip your flesh off while you beg for death - that seems like that was too intense.." The bunny is sweating. "A little bit, but..". Without missing a beat, the wolf interjects, "I value our time we spend together and I care about you and will never harm you." The bunny blushes again: "I like spending time with you too.." They trail off as the wolf interjects again, "I'm gonna fucking murder you and vomit out your bleached white bones." The bunny is a blushing mess now. The wolf smiles. "See, and now I know how far to go, prey~"
Great comic to jump on if you're a fan of the kind of weirdly wholesome fatal roleplay stuff I do sometimes :3 That kind of safe roleplay is Sadie's whole deal - she's a pred that both makes you feel really safe and can push you *right* up to the line~

Advertisement for funding goals for various comics I'm working on. Darker side is a comic draft and shows a dark brown canine smiling cruelly at a mouse. It's priced at $250, with $150 contributed so far. Sitter is a Comic Draft priced at $200 and shows Pebble (a bunny) looking annoyed at Swallow (a fox) who is absolutely beaming. $50 has been contributed. Safe Space shows an Eevee looking up at the viewer from under some bed covers. It's a Comic draft (aprox 4 pages) featuring Max the Eevee and costs $200. Bathing Your Pokemon is a Sketch Comic priced at $300 featuring (again) Max the Eevee. It has a picture of an Eevee wrapped up in a towel looking smug. Five pieces have been both funded and released: Quality Time, Fren, Fucked Up, Hide and Seek, and Cupcake Endo Reactions. To contribute to any of the projects, make a one-time pledge at subscribestar dot adult slash foxyoreos with the name of the project inside the description. Or you can contact me to make a direct payment using Paypal ($20 minimum). Contributors get WIP access to the project.
Darker Side is now at $150, so only $100 away from being fully funded <3
It's a comic that will introduce a new safe pred to the Forest, Sadie, and play with some really fun consensual fatal teasing :3c

It is a conundrum, but you'd better stay in the cup until it's figured out, maybe there's a good reason for you to be in there, we don't know.
I got you Selo: *sanctions combination* :3c
"okay we're just gonna have a database connection and if you have a layer and you make a stroke on it.. we really only need to update the pixel information for that layer, and we can just write it to the database."
Again, just my guess :3
Right now Krita uses (like a lot of things) essentially a zip folder as its file format - so even if you've made one brush stroke, the save operation is still very expensive.
So I (think) could be wrong, but I think what they're looking at is-
I'm not super-informed about their plans either, but I don't think it's saving the actual brush strokes - just that it would be doing faster writes of the data it does need to save so that it's not a performance bottleneck to be constantly running a save operation in the background.
(unrelated, In typical Krita fashion, they offpaw mentioned a feature that's probably a year out that I instantly want: a switch to an SQL file format which would eliminate autosaving entirely. Every brush stroke would be immediately saved, it would no longer be possible to lose work.)
Although, true, very worst case scenario, if it keeps being an issue I guess I can keep using 5.3 and then swap into 5.2 whenever I need to do extensive dialog boxes.
But not to minimize the issues, just.. I think I'm seeing a different one.
This is also what makes me nervous about it - if it's not a widespread issue, and it's not gonna show up for everypony, then it might not get fixed for a while - and in that case maybe I should try debugging it.
It's tricky, because with any large tool like this with heavy integration into graphics/OS pipelines, different critters are going to be hit by different bugs that might be entirely.
I'm not sure this is the same bug I'm seeing. Krita 5.3 has been very stable for me *except* for text.
> Platforms and protocols are transient mediators of your relationships.
But yeah, this slaps. This is very prescient writing.
If the entire Fediverse and ATmosphere disappeared tomorrow, it wouldn't be a horrible problem for me, because my community is decentralized beyond protocols.
And what's great about that approach is.. critters can still do all the of the federated stuff. Postybirb works with Mastodon, Bluesky. It also works with Discord.
These are tools that don't give a damn whether or not a platform is walled. They'll make it open regardless. Pure pragmatism.
And what's powerful about that is that it works almost everywhere, today, with minuscule amounts of funding. I post my artwork to like 7 different completely isolated sites using infrastructure that was developed with a shoestring budget. It's real decentralization, actually working today.
And that's where I am now seeing the biggest impacts towards decentralization - not a "last account I'll ever need", not a shared data format that everything is running on - but tools that actually tangibly decrease the costs of using multiple platforms *while keeping them separated.*
And a lot of of that runs contrary to traditional views about "if we just build the perfect protocol that everything runs on-"
With Postybirb I post different art to different sites: I tailor per-site. The valuable tools aren't unifying my accounts, they're letting me manage multiple accounts.
Bridges between platforms are having a larger effect - BridgyFed is doing probably some of the most valuable work for the fediverse. Wafrn is also looking promising. We can go further in that direction - tools like Postybirb for artists are more valuable than the entire fediverse.
Oh wow, this has aged VERY well. This is mirroring a lot of my current thoughts about these platforms - nothing against open protocols, but the way I'm thinking about decentralization is very orthogonal to the way that Mastodon/Bluesky/ATProto/ActivityPub considers decentralization.
5.3.1 got released but the release notes do not mention this - I should rebuild on it though and see if that fixes things by chance.
I don't want to waste time trying to do debugging unless it is something I have to actually debug myself. But.. if I'm the only Krita user that it's happening to, then.. I do have to look into it more >w<
But I have not really seen this mentioned anywhere online, and I feel like if this was a common issue, it would be getting talked about, because it's to the point where I am nervous to use the tool for extended periods of time.
I haven't seen much mention of this online so I just want to make sure that it's not only me - is anyone else finding that in Krita 5.3 using the text tool can occasionally cause crashes out of nowhere?
5.3 has been mostly stable for me, but specifically text is becoming an issue.

It's so good! <3
Genuinely really appreciative that you shared this, because I've felt anxiety about not having everything be more official.
And I definitely want the option of forms for critters, but your whole thread and the responses to it makes me feel better about my commission process.
I definitely feel like I've had commissioners who I felt were embarrassed to be talking about what they wanted - and in those situations I try to just be really friendly and accessible - but I always think "well, they'd be less embarrassed if you had more official forms."
