We don’t get there from here with people like Musk hoarding money and resources though.

Man throwing phone into lake
Platforms and services that email you to tell you that you need to log in to their app or website to retrieve a message or announcement of some kind. No context, no details as to what the thing they want to tell you is.
He also doesn’t seem to grasp that the Culture was luxury space communism, nothing to do with paychecks.
The story about him reciting Oswald Mosley speeches from memory doesn’t inspire confidence either.
Maurice Moss (The IT Crowd) holding back laughter sitting behind a computer desk. *meme/screenshot is not partially relevant to the joke, other than me imagining it being the kind of joke that Moss would say.*
people keep telling me to touch grass but my computer says that file already exists
I’m wondering if this is the text of an email viewed in notepad, it sounds almost too conversational to be a ransom note
There’s footage of the raid on his home here

Annoyingly I can’t find a ransom note that matches that text in Google
This is a photo released by the South Korean police
Looks like the incident that kicked off the investigation was in September of 2022, so I guess a place to start would be high profile ransomware attacks in South Korea around then.
Infosec people, help me out!
Apparently South Korea and Kazakhstan have identified and arrested the leader of a ransomware operation active since 2022
What group is this?

There’s individual copies on scribd, etc but collection is time consuming and complex, a full good quality archive would be magic!
If anyone has old copies of these kind of magazines kicking around, can you please hit up @bsky.realhackhistory.org.
Photocopy scans of Hacker Defence (Line?) magazine, a #hacker magazine from #China that ceased publication in I think 2015. I regret that these aren’t better copies and I am working on tracking them down.

Don’t police my language and I owe no debt of gratitude to this site, as a user I am the collateral they are using to secure funding.
"Asherah gave me the number of the FBI agent in charge of Anonymous tips, I just called him up and spoke to him to explain our position, he said he'd pass along my contact info to the other agents out in California." - Barrett Brown to Gregg Housh, April 27, 2011
Asherah/A5h3r4 was one of several anti-Anonymous people at the time who worked with the FBI and claimed to have doxed Sabu before his arrest and subsequent FBI cooperation.

The whole Trump administration is egotists and deluded maniacs who are totally out of their depth desperately trying to avoid realizing that basic fact. Of course some of them are drinking a lot.
The priorities of the people that run this site and what their exemplar idea of what users want versus the actual users are a million miles apart.
Why does Bluesky still not have the option of doing a poll? Like fuck editing, fuck AI doohickeys, can we just get basic shit?
I think a lot of AI/corporate doomers are still fundamentally not understanding that open-source models you can run locally on consumer hardware are no worse than two years behind the frontier models and for most purposes a lot closer
And how are those models trained? A small group of underfunded open source developers? Or did it require a corporation pouring vast amounts of compute at data from the kind of vast scraping tasks that get your connection killed for TOS and the kind of piracy that regular people get jailed for?
I think about that so much.
They linked that page during the attack.
I get that you hate AI, I do too, but self-inflicted AI issues just isn’t what happened this week.
Wha report page? Bluesky has said it was a DDoS attack and this same group has successfully attacked other major platforms over the last year or so. The timing of the announcement of the start of the attack by 313 Team and the start of the Bluesky outage roughly align.

It is about an “investigative reporter specializing in technology, cybersecurity, and tech policy”.
Sounds like hot water
Imagine if someone was kicked out of Occupy as an informant and then ran the old YourAnonNews with Gregg Housh while running Anonymous ops while getting paid to write about Anonymous and then was friends with Sabu and then tried to keep Topiary's police interviews quiet.
Wouldn't that be something?
