Maybe it's true that closer ties to China are not a perfect substitute for ties with the US. But it's a start to needed diversification since the US has signalled it doesn't want those ties any longer. Y'know what else is true? Polievere is no substitute for Carney! PP vs. True Leadership. Imagine: I live in a neighbourhood & have issues with local government; eg, by-laws & taxes. But I don't want 2 move. So I declare, unilaterally, that my property is no longer part of the municipality - my house is independent & self-governed. Illogical? Not 2 separatists! No basis for this! Insane!

All countries must follow the lead of Germany and Denmark in demanding repayment for (or selling off) US debt, especially the 5 largest holders: Japan, UK, China Luxembourg and CANADA! Let's see if Cheeto Jesus can deal with that $4+ Trillion economic threat! I'm angry now!

Just my two cents - Canadians travelling to the US right now for pleasure are traitors. Everyone should be buying and travelling Canadian (or at least boycotting the US) to fight the petulant, petty, narcissistic Cheeto Jesus who has somehow brainwashed millions of our neighbours to the South.

Just my take on this; curious what others think. Should we start making sure we label the US correctly going forward. I say we start using the “socialist regime” banner every chance we get! Elbows up!

Instead of accusing other nations (like Canada, for instance) of being socialist regimes, I think Trump needs to face the reality that he is ensuring the US is firmly in the left-wing camp.

Now who’s the socialist / communiist country in the mix? Trump’s tarrifs are, in effect, a government subsidy meant to protect and shelter inefficient US businesses from foreign competition.This is both anti-capitalist and not much different than the strategy of communist regimes (like China).
