Author Ernestine Hayes says Elizabeth Peratrovich’s advocacy work isn’t over Monday is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, an Alaska State holiday honoring a Lingit activist who testified before Alaska’s territorial legislature in Juneau to demand civil rights for Alaska Native people.

Lingít author Shaankaláx̱t’ Ernestine Hayes said Peratrovich's legacy inspires her, especially as she reads the news today.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

I stumbled upon this post and it made my already insane night even better. Thank you! That was a blast.
