This has the strong feeling of truth about it. I don't believe all the CEO hype for AI replacing jobs, they're not idiots and they know the tech isn't remotely up to snuff, and this seems like a far more plausible reason for the enthusiasm.

#92 is Fragile by Yes. New to me. Roundabout is a classic tune all of its own but all the longer tracks here are worthwhile, each successfully developing it's own musical themes. The short fillers are a bizarre inclusion & I do not like the reedy vocals. 4/5 1001albumsgenerator.com/albums/0dZF9...
#91 is For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music. New to me. This is a pretty great slice of genre-hopping across prog, glam & synth rock that sounds ten years ahead of its time. It's a bit of a shame that 10 minutes is taken up with one of its weakest tracks. 4/5 1001albumsgenerator.com/albums/6gKMW...
#90 is Smokers Delight by Nightmares On Wax. New to me. I have enjoyed plenty of electronica and cannabis in my life, but this is a prime example of a particular 90s style of unstructured, unmelodic, weak-jazz chill-out vibe that I find very tedious. 2/5 1001albumsgenerator.com/albums/2kXJw...

This Is Just To Say
I have turned off
the AI features
that were in
the update
and which
you were probably

Fuck you
they were stupid
so unnecessary
and so annoying
I loathe cycling on the roads. Always take off-road paths where possible.
The worst ever piece of driving I've seen was the car that overtook me directly before a left-hand turn-off, and then took the turn. He was a half-meter away from killing me, when he could have waited one second.
None of the movies/shows in the MCU is 'critical' to understand new entries. They're all easy to understand. The main problem isn't homework, it's that they're ads for each other in a cynical, anti-art corporate transmedia model that devours smaller art, weakens workers, & strengthens monopolies.
To whit: pretty much everything from your job, to your daily life admin, to your evening's entertainment, has become a funnel through which profit is extracted from you.
Increasingly it feels like making your own art and talking to your friends are the only wholesome things left in life.
Seeing messages in my feed this morning about rebooting the MCU and MS injecting yet more unasked for AI into Windows are both, despite their differences, major examples of why modern life has become So Fucking Exhausting.
Chaos in the Old World joins Arkham Horror, Tannhauser and Space Hulk: Death Angel in my growing Fantasy Flight golden age retrospective, including supplemental interviews with @mattthr.bsky.social and @shelfstablecast.bsky.social's Kenny Katayama
Nothing sang like the brawl in that box ๐
NOBODY HE'D RATHER BE.
Nesrine Malick in the Guardian gets it. There's no such thing as an evil genius with a master plan. Evil is almost always defined by pathetic, hollow people wielding power they should never have been allowed to have, whether that's by a gun or by the ballot box
Perusing BGG comments never gets old
I just don't think I have the patience or the skill for this any more. And this is supposed to be for a thing, finished by late April and I'm not going to have time, especially if I have to correct fuck ups on every model
I couldn't get a good enough focus. It's a finished boot, over which one brush slip from the cloak colour has left a trail of orange.
Will now have to be re-done completely, base coat, wash and highlight due to a microsecond of clumsiness.
I'm just going to sell my unpainted figures, I think. A ridiculous triumph of hope over reason.
*endless screaming*
Some modern miniature sculpts have become so insanely intricate that I'm not entirely sure they're actually fun to paint any more.

Photos don't really do it justice. There are some more in the thread

Well this is a pretty awesome place to stumble across looking for a cup of coffee
I was out shopping with my wife the other day and she said she was very disappointed by the range of vegetables in the supermarket until I pointed out that, really, it depends how hard you throw them.
That was my thinking initially but I keep reading various takes on the subject and suggest otherwise. Apparently you can now use abstraction layers to test - I'm using NLog and it has a MemoryTarget class to facilitate this, for example
Code people. Is this now considered the best way to get a logger instance rather than injecting it? How does one go about unit testing it if so?
Miniature painters: I need to drill a very small gun barrel, for which I don't have a small enough pin vice bit.
Any alternatives I can use to make a hole in there?
Fury of dracula 5th ed cover. Has dracula on it, shockingly enough
I am an advocate for solo board gaming, but not every game needs a solo mode. Seeing people complain that Fury of Drcaula 5th edition won't have a solo mode and all i can think is
No shit it won't
There are so many games and so many solo modes these days, just get over the odd game not having one.
