You don't actually have to sign a check in cursive (if you ever write one at all, which today's kids won't very often). Printing is a perfectly legal signature. Reading cursive is a worthwhile skill, but writing it, not so much anymore.

Not just "foundational documents," but personal documents like letters and cards from as little as 20-30 years ago. Learning to read cursive is still necessary.

This morning, I got to be at a panel with seven of the eight surviving cast members of Firefly, where they announced they are working on a new Firefly animated show! I'm so excited for this to find a home and actually get made so we have new Firefly stories again!

Then Saturday night, a viewing of Stand By Me followed by a discussion with Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, and Wil Wheaton, who had funny, sad, and heartwarming things to say about Rob Reiner and River Phoenix and their experiences filming the movie.

Had an amazing weekend! Saturday afternoon at AwesomeCon, I saw a panel with the iconic George Takei, listening to him talk about his life of advocacy and activism.
