The art of resistance: Trump’s attack on humanities triggers a blowback movement The rise of resistance to Trump takes root in rural America

Lawsuits by major national organizations have been filed to fight grant cancellations at IMLS and Dept of Ed. Why has nothing been filed to fight cancellations at NEH, most especially the state humanities councils? Letters objecting to the cancellations aren't enough. www.salon.com/2025/04/21/t...

I liked this movie so much on so many different levels, that I actually wrote a post about it for LinkedIn this morning. It really is a master class in using storytelling to dive into very nuanced topics.

I’m not into how many of them there are now, but final destination one and two were some of the only horror movies I think that ever actually got to me.

They’re about anxiety, which I have in abundance. The whole premise of these movies is essentially spiraling, and ā€œwhat ifā€ thinking gone wild.

Michael B. Jordan played both brothers and yet still played two entirely separate men.

Wunmi Mosaku really brought this lush, vivid modern spiritual element to the story that does what the Juke scene did in blending the Old culture with the new beliefs and she's a pivot to the whole movie.

The characters were all multifaceted, jumping off the screen in realism.
The use of different styles of music to convey cultural cross points and differences was incredible-especially the Irish brouge and Juke scenes.

The prayer scene…wow. That might be one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever.

there was so much happening in that movie thematically that I think I could watch it four or five times and pick y’all a new point each time.

The callbacks to other vampire movies like Blade and Nightbreed were so well done.

And Buddy Guy? What?!

I saw Sinners last night and I have a lot of thoughts about it.

That movie is so gorgeous. There was not a single line in it that didn’t have a purpose.
Telling this nuanced story about race relations in America through music history and vampires scratched every brain squiggle I have.

For Crown or Colony? - MissionUS It’s 1770. You’re Nat Wheeler, a 14-year-old apprentice in Boston. When fighting starts, what will you do?

On the anniversary of Paul Revere's Ride, I want to plug a great, entirely free game, MissionUS, in which you play a young printer's apprentice trying to decide whether to support Loyalists or Revolutionaries in 1770s Boston. It was, of course, an #NEH project. www.mission-us.org/games/for-cr...

My brother in Christ, if you’re loudly bragging about being a Trump supporter and then in the same breath you’re bitching that you have to get groceries at Dollar Tree because money is tight…..

Bro….how do I tell you this?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you cannot say that you're a libertarian and also support the actions of the Trump administration.

Do you eat Oreos while you brush your teeth, too? It makes no sense.

Groups across the country have received letters notifying them that their grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities have been canceled, raising alarms about serious harm to museums, historical sites, and a wide range of community projects.

This was an interesting conversation, and I really like @daviddylanthomas.bsky.social ā€˜s approach to telling this story and connecting it to the present through a horror lens.

Remember kids, if you tank the economy on purpose and make it hard to eat….then control the news and schools so that you can tell people what to think…

They'll lap it up like hungry dogs and do whatever you want them to do if it means they'll get fed.

The attack continues and is actually gaining traction.

Humanities programs are directly tied to intellectualism, education, and self expression.
The goal is unquestioning, hive mind mentality to make bad ideas more acceptable and palatable to the public.

We have seen this before.

Watching the changes happening in my industry because of the rise of this regime makes me sick to my stomach. Funding is being cut, and censorship is in.

I won’t be backing down or going along with any of it….Especially not in my non-affiliated work.

Philly tourism officials are ā€˜anxious’ amid Trump’s tariffs and rift with Canada The industry is bracing for potential fallout from the Trump administration’s tariffs and hostile rhetoric toward traditional allies such as Canada.

Museums within #PACSCL will feel the pinch.

IMLS is now effectively being disbanded. All staffers that run the biggest federal funding programs that make your museums, libraries, and historic sites run….. are on leave effective today.

I really hope that my fellow park rangers, museum workers, and library workers know that what we do is active resistance at this point.

Please don’t stop recommending and writing. Keep fighting. Get bolder about it, even.

Very excited to be giving a gallery talk that’s inherently feminist and gay in a beautiful space today.

Even though the industry itself really gets on my last nerve sometimes…I really do love what I do for a living.

Girl why are you here?
Honestly. I have zero clue why you ever thought following me on any platform post Twitter was a good idea.

Go stir up an issue that doesn’t exist somewhere… until somebody pulls the skeletons out of your closet once again.

Gotta really live up to the standard, you know.
