The national media suddenly pretending BRS wasn't found by a court to have committed these horrific actions in Afghanistan and suddenly ignoring the original 2023 judgment and the appeal, both of which BRS lost, is an absolute travesty. Rich people are laundering this bastard's reputation.

"Innocent until proven guilty" is *solely in the context of the criminal court deciding whether the very high bar set for the imposition of criminal penalties has been met*. You can be 80% likely to have done the acts constituting the crime and still be acquitted of criminal charges.
Worse than useless, as it pretends that the criminal charges could somehow exonerate him and "clear his name", despite the fact that the criminal standard (beyond reasonable doubt) is not a test for actual "innocence" but just a test for whether criminal penalties by the state can be applied.
Useless coverage of BRS from The Guardian, failing to acknowledge at all let alone prominently that the FULL COURT of the federal court found on the balance of probabilities that, despite his denials, he had murdered four Afghan men.

Looks like 70 years of running a brutal apartheid state results in a lot of the people who choose to remain being horrific supporters of genocide and murder.
A tweet reporting that the Trump administration fired two immigration judges who blocked deportations of pro-Palestinian students, noting that four additional judges were also fired.
This is how a dictatorship takes hold. Judges should be free from political pressure so they can apply the law justly and without outside influence.
War criminals. Rogue regime. Threat to Australia's national security. Expel the Israel ambassador.

Trump threatening more "conquest"
"our great Military is... looking forward to its next Conquest"
said the leader of a great country we should definitely be allied with and giving $400bn for their submarine program.
The civilisation that is dead is the American one.
Yes. Perhaps I shall try to dream of an Australian journalist who compares the 25th Amendment of the US constitution to the fine print of AUKUS… and asks is there *any* thought of what this means for Australia’s military and what we’ve been signed up to - and any way to exit?
David McBride should not only be released ASAP, he should be awarded an Order of Australia. And whistleblower legislation needs urgent revision @paulrgregoire.bsky.social @quentindempster.bsky.social @squigglyrick.bsky.social @paulbongiorno.bsky.social @albomp.bsky.social
But seriously, how? He's already put the country through public defamation proceedings, which he lost. It's been thoroughly publicly aired by now.
Not merely "alleged". A court found on the balance of probabilities that he did it. He can't sue you for defamation.
Release McBride, yesterday.

Reminder Senator owned a fish n chip shop and always voices strong support for the worst quality men. A strong known history.
I wouldn’t ever want her endorsement if I were a colonial male.
Reminder that you can & shd call BRS a war criminal without putting "alleged" before it. He's been found to have committed those war crimes on the balance of probabilities. Even if he was acquitted of criminal charges - which are "beyond reasonable doubt" - he's not "innocent". He can't sue you.

Vance: "if the Europeans has been... A little more willing to stand up... We could have saved the entire world from the strategic disaster that was the American-led invasion of Iraq"
Vance, April 2025: the "strategic disaster" that was the GOP's attack on Iraq was *Europe's fault* for not *standing up* to the US.

Re the US chucking a tantrum over Europe not joining its suicidal Iran war, but remember back in April 2025, not quite a year ago, when their VP was excoriating Europe for joining his own party's 2003 Iraq War? "Stand up to US foreign policy decisions," he told them.
Uh, @larissawaters.bsky.social - you could come out and do this you know. Harness the entirely justified anger about the RBA, gain some populist support, and force the ALP and LNP into defending the hated RBA.
Populism that would really speak to people and also be entirely correct - and force the other parties to tie themselves to the hated RBA
(There are some direct quotes from the Israel lobby and Minns - but I repeat myself - but most of their framing is presented neutrally as if it's the author's voice.)
Absolute garbage coverage on this by @australia.theguardian.com. Note how all the bad-faith right wing positioning is done in neutral voice and anything critical of Israel is in quotes. Also the sheer volume of BS from one side quoted vs anything responding to it

This is such a disingenuous process and despicable outcome
