"The trust in the respondent's ability to uphold the liberal democratic order and faithfully execute governmental duties has been irreparably lost. As a result, it has reached a point where the respondent can no longer be entrusted with the administration of the country."

The Rodong Sinmun: "Donald Trump has been inaugurated as the President of the United States. He was elected as the 47th President of the United States in the election held last November, and the inauguration ceremony took place on the 20th in Washington, D.C. local time."
NK NEWS: North Korean state media reported on U.S. President Donald Trump’s election win and inauguration for the first time on Wednesday morning, after Trump broke precedent to call the DPRK a nuclear power just hours after taking office.

The situation in the Yellow Sea remains tense, and with South Korea’s political turmoil, China could continue its expansionist tactics.
The geopolitical landscape is shifting—closely monitoring future developments.
This mirrors China's actions in the South China Sea, where it militarized islands after gradual encroachment.
The similar tactics could be applied in the Yellow Sea, encroaching on the PMZ to achieve strategic objectives.
The PRC is likely exploiting this leadership vacuum to further territorialize the Yellow Sea, aiming to limit South Korea's access and control the area’s sea and airspace.
Key South Korean military positions remain vacant due to resignations and ongoing investigations related to Yoon's impeachment trials, weakening the nation's response to China's actions.
This recent installation comes after a pause in protests from South Korea, likely due to internal political instability following President Yoon Suk-yeol's martial law declaration on December 3, 2024.
China's justification?
The steel framework is presented as a "fishing support facility." However, South Korea suspects this is part of China's broader strategy to assert territorial control over the Yellow Sea.
The PMZ, established in 2000 to resolve fishing & oil exploration disputes between South Korea & China, prohibits non-fishing facilities.
Despite this, China has repeatedly installed structures, including 10 buoys since 2014.
On December 2024, South Korean authorities discovered a 164-foot steel framework installed by China in the Provisional Measures Zones (PMZ) of the Yellow Sea.

"What can we do to prevent a crisis without encouraging other nation-states to pursue their own nuclear weapons programs? That’s the solution we’d like to reach, but I just didn’t bring it in my folder today."
"All of this needs to be considered together when looking at the policy. What can we do now to lower the risk of inadvertent war between South Korea and North Korea—maybe even including Japan at this point—and ultimately the United States?"
"Despite how much it means to him, no amount of sanctions has deterred him from developing that capability, and in fact, it has provided him with the resources to continue development."
"You have a 40-something-year-old dictator who has to figure out how to hold on to power for the rest of his life. He views nuclear weapons as his insurance policy to stay in power."
"...and ultimately didn’t achieve everything, but here's something he was able to accomplish from the engagement: he stopped testing missiles. That didn’t stop the development of the program, but at least it calmed the situation quite a bit."
"To his credit, President Trump—look, I’ll be frank, I was one of the people very skeptical about it—but he reached out to Kim Jong Un, walked away from negotiations twice..."
Marco Rubio: "I think there has to be an appetite for a very serious, broader North Korea policy. I think it’d be difficult for me to come here today and tell you that this is going to be the official U.S. position moving forward."
Sen. Brian Schatz asked Rubio for his take on Washington’s North Korea policy after stating that “CVID is a fantasy” and that “North Korea policy is broken.”
U.S. Secretary of State nominee Sen. Marco Rubio said the new administration’s DPRK policy aims to prevent an inadvertent nuclear crisis on the Peninsula and discourage other nations from pursuing their own nuclear weapons, at a confirmation hearing today.
