Thanks, I twigged that later and gathered it was the 3 cents they were unhappy with

Could they extend the hauliers rebate to include contractors for example?

Thanks for that clarification Gavin. the Government hasn't exactly been issuing any clarifications

But that was before the shiny new 900+ page Planning Act and the Accelerating Infrastructure Task Force recommendations so maybe we could knock a few years off the 2067 date. My metric is the time it takes to instal bus shelters from announcement to completion

Re point 2 Brian, the charging infrastructure, I thought there were several plans in train for different road types, based on the need/ level of demand, Is it that these aren't enough or the rollout is too slow?

Does it make any positive difference in your opinion that revenue from the carbon tax is earmarked for retrofitting etc so presumably designed to help those who can least afford sticking with fossil fuel or even with that you still think its unfair?

Which is why those articles evoke sadness as well as amusement. As you say they could easily happen ....if only

You asked if you were unfair adopting the policy & answer imo is "No" but I agree with Billy it wasn't useful to personalise the interaction "professional obligation" notwithstanding . Could you have said "We only service bikes that meet EU/US standard X,Y Z. Also a visible notice to that effect

Cheering story! Sadly cargo bikes are very scarce in Sligo to date. Our cycling infrastructure just isn't there so far but I'm always delighted to see them in Dublin. @irishcyclingcmpn.bsky.social @unalestrange.bsky.social @lucyhayes.bsky.social @emergencydeptsligo.bsky.social

Colman said in the RTE print account of the trip that the ebike wasn't necessarily faster, other people on acoustic bikes overtook him, but he said its advantage was he arrived non sweaty and the ebike would be good for doing that same route home uphill

No idea Cosán but isn't it more remarkable that City Link seem to be taking a tougher stand than the NTA ? The latter distinguishes between escooters and ebikes on trains & buses and only the former are banned. I wonder about other private bus companies

Red too! Lucky you!

It's extraordinary our housing legislation apparently permits this to happen. If the houses were built as a retirement complex surely they should remain so. So, if for some reason the owner must /wants to sell it should be with retired tenants in situ.

Wow! How far do you transport the kayak on it? If fuel continues its upward rise or becomes unavailable you might be developing a side-line in making and selling them!

The holiday people and those stuck in transit form elsewhere like Australia seem to be getting scheduled flights. I think the Gov chartered one is for residents but not sure whether any distinction between long or short term . I heard mention of vulnerable people.

Is that the continuation of the same opinion piece?

Yes if valid not reporting at the time seems strange

From what I read on the Guardian story about this Family Voting seems to refer to a family member directing another family member's vote

How had the 60 people proposed getting home if the pub hadn't been raided? If they had their cars presumably they weren't drinking or had a designated driver? There's a worrying vibe about the last sentence. Is it saying "Lads if ye want our cooperation don't be annoying us like that"?

Good initiative by the Council and thanks for covering it as otherwise those of us outside the area who might like our own councils to be similarly proactive would have missed it

Excellent point! The only puzzle is how that isn't obvious to the authorities.

You're onto something with your alternative! I'm guessing schools run with it because it fills a slot in curriculum, maybe under Wellbeing & is ready made by the RSA. So until the RSA or someone else hands them an alternative on it will go. @irishcyclingcmpn.bsky.social @irishdocsenv.bsky.social

I absolutely get your point , I was on a train this pm and 4 people were balancing in the luggage space and a few more were in the corridor and that was only 1 carriage. But curious as to why the NTA is to blame. They depend on Government to allocate resources. Did they have funding but delay?

I didn't know what you were on about until I was there today and saw it closed! It does say 'temporarily ' though And to conclude the full Connolly experience there is the frequent trek down to Platform 1 & the wait to a diesel soundtrack for the train doors to open

So why would that be necessary if what we are told about airports and aircraft becoming ever more sustainable is true? So despite the reassurances there will be a climate impact and we need you to ignore it?

You are stars for giving updates I R doesn't post on here! Do you know anything more about the bridge strike as I have just left Mullingar on the train
