An orange sunflower star explores the eel grass. A group of people and one dog are visible exploring the beach in the background.

✅ Chicken wire installed around the dryer vent so no birds try to nest in there
Ooh! Finally found my snow measuring ruler! It’s been buried for months!
How else would the Flying Spaghetti Monster keep tabs on us mortals?

The best part of living in Alaska is the random wildlife encounters… especially when you least it expect it!
Traditional canoes, or yaakw in Lingít, typically represent a single clan. But this design is intentionally general so it doesn’t leave anyone out.
There are snowballs falling from the sky right now and I choose this moment to leave my house? Dum dum.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with the inspiring Alannah Acaq Hurley, who has received the Goldman Environmental Prize for her work to stop Pebble Mine in Alaska. Our interview, for @mongabay.com: news.mongabay.com/2026/04/gold...

RCGD's LISA WEXLER: The intervention really builds on family members’ love for each other and helps to keep them safe. In this way, the intervention is universal and reduces suicide risk by helping people do what they want to do.
A positive, family-centered approach to firearm safety, centered on changing how guns are stored in Alaska homes, offers a promising path to reducing suicide risk. @umichnews.bsky.social writes on Lisa Wexler's research findings: rcgd.isr.umich.edu/news-events/...

I loved reading this profile of my friend and mentor Dr. Jennifer Schell @jenniferschell16.bsky.social. Sarah Manriquez does a beautiful job of capturing why Jen is a fantastic researcher and teacher: her curiosity and her commitment to seeing the world differently. www.uaf.edu/cla/news/202...
