I think it’s Reich who makes the point that government creates the playing field, establishes the ground rules by which businesses all must operate, whether strict or lax. Business isn’t conducted in a vacuum or some state of wild nature. Business today is running rough shod over the environment.

Because patriarchs look out for each other; the power structure is defended by patriarchs. The church is patriarchal because the Bible is patriarchal because Yahweh is a patriarch. Women are second class citizens, conceived as mere supporters of a male partner rather than fully individuated people.

Religion is best understood as a magical industry with dozens of competitors vying for customers, selling fantastical promises of eternal benefits, largely tax-exempt. Old and new brands, startups, entrepreneurs, revenues, expenses, wildly varying products—but never any warranty claims.

We should all aim for an ever clearer picture of natural reality. It’s where we live and what we share. If we love truth and one another, let’s work to eliminate the false ideas that cloud and interfere with our common experience

Fortunately, there is no god. Unfortunately, Trump is real.
