I encourage policymakers to apply our tool to enable designing policies that reduce rather than exacerbate inequities during health, environmental, and economic crises. #healthequity #healthpolicy #publichealth
And it’s exciting to see it reach Most Viewed Article status with over 250 views (and climbing!) within a day of its online publication.
I greatly appreciate Dr. Virginia Gunn’s leadership on this policy analysis component of our COVID-19, Precarious Work, and Mental Health (COPE) study, along with the invaluable contributions of colleagues and students on our team. #hspr #publichealth #academicsky
Hot off the press! Our new paper, “Development of a Sex- and Gender-Based Analysis Plus (SGBA+) Tool to Assess the Equity of Public Policies”, published in the inaugural issue of Health Politics! hpolitics.org/journal/view... #healthequity #healthpolicy #publichealth
APTN has an all new web series on YouTube called APTN News: Answers.
It's a one stop shop to help separate fact from fiction when it comes to the latest headlines and misconceptions involving Indigenous people.
We spoke with co-host Savannah Kelly.
I'm visiting my mother and just have to express my gratitude to Personal Support Workers (PSWs). The exceptional care and social support they provide positively impacts my mental health as well as my mother's. 🙏🏼

I long for and will keep fighting for a world committed to dismantling structural and systemic racism and discrimination, including transphobia; and promoting mental health, preventing mental health issues, and supporting recovery from mental health issues. Fight for that world with me.
I’m also thinking of trans people being blamed and targeted in the context of existing structural and systemic transphobia and violence against them. It is never acceptable to perpetuate & fuel transphobia by blaming trans people for the actions of one person.
And I’m thinking of the students and educators throughout the province, across the country, and around the world feeling this so closely. Schools, colleges, and universities are places for learning, building community, and having positive societal impact. They should never be places of violence.
I’m also thinking of the first responders and health and social service providers who are providing care and support while they are directly affected by the loss of loved ones and community members. Love to them.
I’m thinking of the children, educator, and mother who were killed in Tumbler Ridge, those who were injured, and all their loved ones and community members who are traumatized and grieving. 🙏🏽
Hey Canadian media ... "born as a biological male" is not the move when you're reporting on what happened in Tumbler Ridge.
Here's is the @transjournalists.org Style Guide if you are covering this story today

Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.
“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
Harper calling for unity is rich.
Everything about how we exist in society is a political choice. Continuing to allow people to be unhoused is a political choice. Unchecked grocery prices? A political choice. Potholes - political choice. Yeah, things must be weighed etc etc, but these are choices and we can demand better ones.
Judge orders 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his father be released from immigration detention, source says.

Canadians horrified by what ICE is doing should realize the RCMP uses the same tactics domestically against Indigenous people and yet barely anyone speaks up.
Journalists have been arrested just for trying to cover it
Here's a great GoFundMe from a CODA and interpreter trying to help deaf immigrant families. Their goal is $6,000.
An amazing MN Librarian assembled us a reading list to add to the website so people can do more than donate, they can learn to organize in their communities.

A key reason I maintain my affiliation with @unityhealthto.bsky.social >> "As many organizations in Canada and abroad deprioritize equity, diversity and inclusion programs, Unity Health continues to lean in." ~ Altaf Stationwala, President & CEO #AcademicSky #publichealth
I'm willing to be unpopular for naming systemic racism & discrimination, and for being determined to dismantle it. We can't dismantle it without naming it and acknowledging its immense societal, community, family, and individual level harms. Thanks for the great question Dr. Rupaleem Bhuyan!
I'm reflecting on the questions just posed by a panelist:
1. What keeps you grounded?
2. What are you willing to be unpopular for?
3. What is your vision for the world you want to live in?
