On the plus side, this also means I'm not trying to make the more complex autocrafters without already having autocrafting. Aesthetics-brain forced executive-brain to make a simpler autocrafting setup first.
It does, however, also mean that I'm likely going to be naming a lot of pattern providers.

"Oh right. If I put the Assembler Matrix or Quantum Computer modules here, they'll come all the way up to the core. Crowd the room."
"Corners of the room?"
"Nah, still look weird in 16x16."
"Move to next floor up and put base AE2 crafting CPUs + Molecular Assemblers here?"

Submitted a suggestion on Zendesk proposing it should either be a toggle in the settings *or* that the poster should be able to set how it displays.
The immediate LLM response doesn't inspire confidence, but fingers crossed.

limited palette ✨🌠

Gonna be very worth it when I do hit the initial autocraft stage (because I guess I can save the Quantum Computers for later if I allocate the physical space now) and start importing everything on the ground level. I've got most of Mystical Agriculture done, which covers a lot of materials.
Also doesn't help that I haven't put the elevator in (partially because I don't have train casings yet), and my storage is spread across two locations, so I have to jetpack everywhere when I need more resources or machines I haven't moved into the tower yet. Somewhat annoying, not gonna change tho.
Sensible: Making a smaller AE2 autocrafting setup in order to make all the things I need for the actual autocrafting setup without constantly moving around for resources.
Sign of madness: Not doing that and jumping straight to the final setup.
Guess which one I'm doing wheeeeee
In 2 weeks, I need to pay the balance of Katie's radiation treatments. If anyone would like to share the post or chip in, I would be eternally grateful.
The one thing I really like about some of the newer sets is the use of technic blocks structurally. Tends to result in lighter, sturdier, and sometimes more detailed builds.
But yeah, sometimes simplicity is the way to go haha.
And the new shelves and Pale Oak blocks are superb. The version of ATM 10 I'm on definitely has neither but I reeeealy want to use them.
Oh sure, I have access to vertical slabs and other shelf blocks, but they don't quite do the same things.
Vanilla blocks, despite theoretically having had multiple artists through the years, also tend to be stylistically consistent, and that lends itself to a better composition IMO.
(Not to say there aren't modded with the vanilla style; still think limiting palette will force more creative thought.)
Like, there are folks that put signs on the side of slabs to make more circular circles, and I'd never think of that because modded usually has FramedBlocks, Chisels & Bits, and/or Copycats. Too much variety can end up being a crutch.
Now yeah, I could do some of that in modded, but I think part of the problem is that having access to too many blocks means you don't have to think quite as creatively to make something work?
I've gotten pretty good at Tudor-esque buildings, but A) I definitely rely on modded blocks for shaping and B) want to branch out stylistically. I also want more practice on shading/block palettes, and I've almost certainly let my organics atrophy.
And like, it's obviously going to be harder because there's less automation/power creep, and that's even factoring in the new autocrafter block.
But I think having the limited tech/blocks will genuinely help me become a better builder.
I think, when I'm generally less stressed, I should sit down and do a proper vanilla Minecraft let's play/persistent world.
The last time I *really* did anything in Vanilla was probably 1.13, maybe 1.16 (where a lot of my early creative builds and redstone vids happen).
(And I'm still getting a 500 error on the Quiet Posters feed, so I wouldn't be surprised if either an asynch record is still bouncing around the protocol so the feed thinks I'm blocked despite me being able to see Why, or equally likely the backend is still recovering from blocking 300k users.)
But if you're front-facing and posting policy or load-bearing feeds, you should really only be blocking people actively harassing you. Same for government/politicians.
People can elect to opt out of *you*, but if you're hosting a public resource, you can't just block everyone you disagree with.
Heck, most of the bsky dot team issues would be substantially mitigated if they'd use their own sites features and/or create separate accounts for personal vs front-facing. Why could've *muted* the list, and/or limited replies.
Now I get Why blocking *individuals* that are directly harassing him. That's normal.
HOWEVER, blocking the bad-faith modlist while also being in direct association/having a bsky dot team handle and hosting several feeds that were advertised/promoted by Bluesky itself absolutely deserves criticism.
(search "from:segyges\.bsky.\social in for a penny". It'll have a huggingface link/embed, and a quote post admitting to using the list to prevent people "yelling at him". I'm not making baseless claims, I have receipts. Knowingly violating social contract and then hiding is antisocial behavior.)
My thing about Why using the Anti-Anti-AI modlist is that the maintainer deliberately conflates quiet Anti-AI modlist use with users actively doing death threats/slurs. Moreover, after spinning up the list, essentially bragged about using it to hide his mass scraping of the site for training data.
A screenshot from Pokémon Champions on Nintendo Switch 2. Trainer Alícija (a girl with a wine red ponytail and blue eyes) poses with her left arm raised between a wave and a salute, her hand in the shape of a finger gun pointed skyward. She has red glasses, a Rotom communicator on her left ear, a red (the game calls it orange, but it's red enough) shirt, a black, white, and yellow "electric paisley" jacket, black leggings with yellow stripes down the sides, and red (orange), black, and yellow shoes with white laces.
If anyone (especially mutuals) is interested in exchanging Pokémon Champions IDs, hit me up and I'll DM you (or vice versa depending on restrictions)!
The Boromir meme from Fellowship of the Ring. Boromir (Sean Bean) says "One does not simply outmeme a memeliege" (memeliege being the gender neutral equivalent of memelord)
Are Boromir memes still legit, or is this kinda cheugy?
You can leave a comment for the FCC's proposed change to make transgender people of any kind inappropriate for children's media.
Go to this link and let them know you are commenting in regards to MB Docket No. 19-41
A massive public outcry is needed on this.
A screenshot from Pokémon Sleep. It is a polaroid of a Shiny Eevee in the Curled-Up sleep position. Because this was taken in Amber Canyon, Eevee almost completely blends in with the ground.
A screenshot from Pokémon Sleep. A shiny Eevee looks cutely at the camera. Because it is at Amber Canyon, it partially blends with the sandy ground. An orange leaf valiantly attempts but fails to censor Snorlax in the lower left.
I wasn't expecting Camo Eevee!
Quiet Posters feed not working
why.bsky.team subscribed to the anti anti ai block list, blocking over 300 000 users
If you wonder why the "Quiet Posters" feed doesn't work for you anymore, it is because the @why.bsky.team subscribed to an anti-anti-ai block list, rendering it useless for over 300 000 users. Good job bsky team!!
Wait, shoot, I just realized yesterday was 4/20 and would've been a perfect opportunity for a Trackblazer joke. Alas. Definitely not gonna remember that in 11 years (assuming I've factored in leap years correctly, anyway, and that I'm still posting Mambo Monday then) and it won't be at all relevant.
I decided to pull for Yaeno Muteki, and in 4 10-pulls, I got Mejiro Dober, Original Flavor Oguri Cap, *and* Yaeno Muteki (the last two in the same set, even).
Absolutely crazy luck, was not expecting 2.5 new Umas in such rapid succession. (I already had Christmas Oguri, thus the decimal.)
