I got lazy for a William Blake print: "The engraving depicts a central bearded kneeling figure with men's naked bodies floating around."

So excited that Rachel and the Transportation Library are featured! Especially excited that the unsung yet genius designers of government docs are getting some love. 😍
Coming up with alt-text for a photo of a deconstructed Fluxus art piece is the equivalent of an entire semester of creative writing.
I was going to write today, but until we know more, I don't have any new words for this moment. What I will say is that if you are reeling, and you know you want to be part of making things better, Mariame Kaba and I wrote a book for you. I hope it helps.
The Suez Canal debacle was WAY more fun than Hormuz. This admin ruins everything.
I react frantically like I just accidentally texted the wrong person when talking shit, trying to get out of it.
A purple piece of paper with black text on it hung on a fridge with magnets. The text says "It is urgent to abandon an economic model that proposes infinite growth on a finite plant."
Lol someone put this on the fridge where our "Mr AI" Dean stores his lunch.
I talked with @prisonculture.bsky.social, Alison Macrina, and Katie Clark about libraries as public infrastructure, contested political terrain, and spaces of possibility—and about what it means to fight for them in this fascistic moment.
A Q&A part of the voter guide website with this: What if I’m too tipsy to vote because it’s St. Patrick’s Day? Lucky for you, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. so you can go before you start celebrating. To make voting a breeze, or just in case you had a morning brew, you can fill out your ballot in our “Build Your Ballot” tool above and save it on your phone. Generally speaking though, showing up at the polls intoxicated is typically frowned upon and you could get in trouble for public intoxication or disorderly conduct. So make sure to plan ahead.
Really great info in this Chicago Voter Guide. #knowyourcity
Even as sentiment across the country turns against ICE more broadly I think we're still heading for something of a political split where, if you live in a city that's been directly subject to ICE occupation, it becomes the only issue that matters in a way that's difficult to grasp from outside.
The box making! Be still my heart 😄
Do you love Talas as much as I do? Well, you will after watching this! Behind the scenes at their warehouse with a conservator. 😍

The background of the Beatles' Abbey Road album cover with 4 raccoons in the crosswalk. The raccoon photos are photoshopped to be wearing a pie, hamburger, pie, and a beer keg next to water balloons. The text above the raccoons announcing a summer bbq.
The photos of the raccoons (2) turned into a library meme and then mascot of the union. How else would you advertise staff events?
😂
My library had a raccoon fall through the ceiling in the archival processing area. We assumed it had a PhD so thought itself a qualified archivist.
“If [wealthy, powerful people] can get us to accept that the future’s already settled, AI is already here, the end is already here, then we will create that for them. My most daring idea is to refuse.” — @tressiemcphd.bsky.social
Screenshot of text: First, it’s a mistake to say that Trump got America into war on Saturday. What he did was respond to a war that Iran has been waging against the United States since 1979.
Cool hey did anything happen *before* 1979 between the United States and Iran
Procedural liberalism on display. We support the murder of innocents, the immoral and demonic violence, but the President didn't fill out the right paperwork.
The same logic that calls for higher police training budgets and more diversity among prison guards. Polishing the bars of the cage.
square light orange graphic with black and neon text that says: “Join Liberation Library’s Steering Committee. Liberation Library is looking for new Steering Committee members. Join us in building meaningful solidarity with young people who are incarcerated across Illinois.” In a bubble in black text it says: “Apply by March 31st at bit.ly/JoinLibLib”. In small text at the bottom of the graphic in black text says: “To learn more about Liberation Library visit liberationlib.org”. In the background are translucent bubbles and hearts and a stack of colorful books on the left side, the Lib Lib logo in black in a heart towards the bottom right.
For Chicago folks: Liberation Library is looking to recruit additional members to its Steering Committee (SC). Apply by March 31st. It's a great group. bit.ly/JoinLibLib

After nearly 15 years of serving as a venue for underrepresented artists in Chicago and beyond, DePaul University announced that its art museum will close its doors for good on June 30.

Handwritten notes on an invoice. One note says "emailed about shipping 1/28". The note under says "Stopped caring 2/24"
Definitely. Luckily Karen retired so she and others who moved on don't have to go through this ridiculous decision.
UGH as a grad of the purposefully gutted (#1) preservation program there, I feel so bad for everyone.
The amazing folks at Cultural Heritage Advocacy and Action Coalition (CHAACo) created a guide for various ways to "counter the harmful narratives" in our work/outreach.

Things can go downhill real fast.

I've listened to that podcast almost 3 times now. I can't explain to people how good it is.
