Was soll denn das? Was macht die Union da? Sind die endgültig von allen guten Geistern verlassen worden? Gibt es keine anständigen Unionler*innen mehr, die sich da wehren? Die zerstören unser lebenswertes Deutschland zu Gunsten Superreicher…wehrt euch!

Something lacking from this coverage is that "usage" probably isn't even - there are probably a very small fraction of users consuming the vast majority of energy, mostly through agents, coding and video production

This isn't "rapid adoption", it's rapid digital bloating and inefficiency.

Until 31 May, the Orbán puppets may voluntarily step down from their positions. This applies to the President of Hungary, the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Prosecutor General.
On 12 April, the Hungarian people voted for a complete political transformation.
If these officials do not step down voluntarily by 31 May, then - on the basis of the mandate received from millions of Hungarians — we will remove them from office.

Everyone needs to read and fully understand the implications of this thread.
The slowing, even stopping, of the AMOC is not a vague idea.
It's now a strong probability.
Ie, it's almost certainly happening.

However, at least as reported, the discussions to date are being driven by thinking in Germany and France in particular, and it is difficult to see how such a development could be separated from EU initiatives to boost the capacity of its defence industries. More generally, it is hard to doubt that the centre of gravity of influence and decision-making of a ‘European NATO’ would be the EU simply because the bulk of the countries involved would be members of both. Almost inevitably that would fall foul of the kind of sentiments expressed in the Mail editorial and, indeed, the idea is already being reported in The Sun as “Europe’s secret plan” – not, admittedly outright Brussels-bashing, but certainly there is no suggestion in the report that this plan is something the UK is, could, or should be involved in.

Why is Brexitism still such a potent idea, despite the increasingly obvious weaknesses - and hostility to Britain - of global far-right populist?

Chris Grey gives the answer.

Can the UK get past this delusion?

female birds sing their own songs, a fact neglected or even blended out by bird studies until recently. And: Donald Duck is actually a female, because only female ducks quack. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

British exceptionalism that somehow our history is less European and more global than any other country, which it isn't. Or that denies we spent the less thousand years at least totally inter-connected with mainland Europe, or did I invent 1688?

Key problem is that even pro-EU campaigns & political parties focus on specific limited areas the EU-UK relationship, particular asks for one sector or another.

Where is the overarching narrative, where is the vision for the future of Europe and the UK's place in it?

We need that for progress.

Bang on.

And it is our exceptionalism that is keeping us stuck, gradually getting poorer than we need to be.

I rejoice in so many of our cultural differences and our strengths.

But I also rejoice in the benefits of cooperation even when it is hard, which is sometimes will be.

Brexit was not an event, it is a process. An ongoing, cumulative, toxic process. A cancer gnawing at the fabric of society.

”Peak Brexit” will be during 2040s-50s. By then London will be pounding on Brussels’s door begging to be let in.

I absolutely cannot speak for or about heavy users of AI but those that I know who were acquaintances were very prone to appreciate sophistry and flattery and very anti expert and have been so from before AI. This is a problem caused inter alia by underfunded education and mental health services.

If the UK wants to join it should be on equal terms with the EU members it wants to join not in the hope of somehow rigging the system to take advantage over other members. If that is the intention then the wish to join is not real and hopefully the EU will realize that.

“Embracing the future/change” is an absolutely villainous concept. It assumes the existence of a future that must either be accepted or rejected, but fails to recognize that we are actively & constantly shaping it. “It” has no separate existence. And is all change good? No one believes that."

Publication of the study on Wealth Taxation, Including Net Wealth, Capital and Exit Taxes The study on wealth taxation, including net wealth, capital and exit taxes aims to provide a better understanding of these taxes, their interrelation and consequences.

New EU Commission study into the possibilities of taxes on extreme wealth

There is no lack of money to finance Europe’s green transition, and break our dependence on fossil fuel imports – the EU just needs the political will to make the super rich pay their fair share

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra is being refreshingly blunt: there is “no workaround” for Europe’s energy price crisis.

Hoekstra’s message? The only way out is through: more electrification, more solar, more wind, more storage, more grid interconnection — and all of it faster.
