on the 50th anniversary of the release of The Boys Are Back in Town I'm morally obligated to share my favorite story of all time

This week's sanity restoration: unsubscribing from anyone who ends a title with "Here's why" or "Here's how"
Weird little game, Sol Cesto, with the opening cutscene of the year.

huge shout out to @standard.bsky.social for creating this and the Venture Bros and KotH ones, absolutely phenomenal!!!!
That's home. That's us.
This image of home just came down from the Artemis II crew.
Taken after their translunar injection burn, there are aurorae at top right and lower left, and zodiacal light at lower right.

Before all the transphobia came to light, I always found this weird. It's English class fantasy, romanticising institutions that can do some really grim things to kids
Tomy toy computer with HORSE on the screen and someone riding a horse
HORSE
Leftfield remains one of the best places to show weird or noncommercial or is-this-even-a-game games
That means: if you get it in before the 10th of April, one submission gets your thing considered for three Leftfields
We're doing curation a little differently this time, because there are three MCMs this year and Leftfield will be at all of them. Rolling submissions run from now until August, with cutoff dates for each event. Anything that isn't selected for one show will still be considered for subsequent ones

Official proper indie game success metrics. 0. My game has no fish and if it did the fish would not be in space or have lasers. 1. The will to put a fish in it was there but I got distracted by a swan trying to break my arm. 2. I have put a fish in my game but I can’t tell you where, it is a secret fish. Stop calling me, Rob. 3. I have put a fish in my game and it is in space and has lasers too. Leave me alone, Rob. 4. People want to pet the fish. Someone cosplayed the fish. Please Rob, that’s my family. No. 5. I am become space fish.
It was on copier paper, filed in the bathroom four floors deep into the basement but I managed to find the proper indie success metrics sheet next to an old copy of fiesta, a broken lenslok and some hairy blutack. Thought it was lost for good too.
Trying not to be in the pit of despair this morning but this one has me beat. The council insist returning three disabled folk to an unsafe home with no hot water, no bog or shower, no electricity in most rooms, damp and with a collapsed ceiling is fine actually has got me. Raising survival funds.
Well. Crunch week then for me on will anyone bend and stop me from losing everything or … will they carry on because there’s no reason not to for them.
Kind thoughts and support very much welcome as this all unfolds. Gonna be the roughest one yet.

A long wooden caterpillar, around 6 metres long and less than a metre high, in a photo that absolutely stinks of the 70s. Two children in checked winter wear are riding it, but the real action is at the back: an adult is peering into the hollow anus of the caterpillar, presumably after feeding their child into it. There is no exit from the head. Unpictured: me, at the head, silently screaming, and rapidly learning claustrophobia
This shopping mall attraction was hollow. You could climb inside it and reach the head, only to find out that someone else was now inside. You were trapped, at the whim of a gurgling buffoon child, newly fed by their mother into the anus of a wooden caterpillar. Of course these days its all tiktoks
This looks great, thank you
What are good MacOS backup alternatives to Time Machine? Not interested in subscription services, but fed up of TM finding new ways to shit itself and make its entire backup history unreadable ~2 times a year
When we're finally talking about an evidence-based drugs policy, I always pour one out for Prof David Nutt, who was sacked as a government health advisor in 2009 for stating simply that drug policy and public health outcomes bear no relation to one another. Correct 17 years too soon.
While there are many things I really hate about Discord, they have at least managed to always keep the interface snappy
reminds me of the disclosure of Musk's twitter DMs revealing a bunch of tech guys just spitballing ideas and vibing their way through hundreds of millions of dollars
A small but deeply meaningful local project - digitising issues of 90s Scottish trans magazine The Tartan Skirt so all of us can access them.
It's a really modest fundraising target with a significant outcome, please share or contribute if you can!
everyone keeps saying "there's no ethical AI" when what they mean is "there's no ethical LLMs"
stop strapping ML researchers to the trolley tracks alongside big AI corps
Despite being full of car infra, the centre is also absolutely terrible to drive and cycle through
