Phillies flop: A peek into a bleak streak A four-game sweep by the Cardinals contributed to an epic Phillies losing streak. In 1961, the Phillies lost 23 consecutive games _ the longest losing streak by a team since the American League joi…

The 1961 Phillies hold the modern day record for most losses in a row at 23 straight. When that team won its first game after the streak, Philly fans came out to the airport and threw a celebration for their team. Which I think is just so wonderful.

The Easter Confession: It was art theft. It was murder. And when the stolen paintings started coming back, it was a mystery that only one man could solve. The Easter Confession: It was art theft. It was murder. And when the stolen paintings started coming back, it was a mystery that only one man could solve..

I guess this is the day to recommend this one of mine - an art theft/murder puzzler set in 1955 New England and thrown into the lap of a young parish priest. Publishers Weekly called it "a superior whodunit" and who am I to disagree.

The Louisville Bats are becoming the Louisville Humidity this summer. An homage to, well, their humidity. Sweat stains on the back/under the armpits. It is so dumb and I love it and now you can just tell people it's not sweat I bought the shirt like this

ICYMI it over the weekend, the great Josh Gibson once, may have, hit a 600-ft homer in Puerto Rico. I dug into that and his spectacular career in P.R.

(Also, I will be in Puerto Rico the next couple weeks. To cover WBC Pool A and to find that HR ball)

Executive editor Matt Murray says the Washington Post will be closing the sports department “in its current form.” The paper plans to retain several reporters to join features and cover sports as a “cultural and societal phenomenon,” and will have a few employees on its print sports section.

Speaking to Post employees, Murray says today is about “positioning ourselves to become more essential to people's lives, and what is becoming a more crowded, competitive and complicated media landscape, and after some years when, candidly, the Post has had struggles to do that."

In addition to sports, the Washington Post is killing its book section, suspending its Post Reports podcast, restructuring its metro section, and shrinking its international footprint.

Shouts to Adam Hall, who's playing for his dad's home country Canada in the WBC.

Hall grew up in Bermuda, and is the only pro player ever from there. I talked to him about playing ball on the 6-field, island paradise last summer.
