Why did pages supporting DEI need to be "under review" in the first place?

@asm.org is not a government organization. It is not subject to the Executive Orders, which call for the systematic erasure of many ASM members.

This is a pathetic, cowardly excuse for voluntarily complying with fascism.

"Political" is banned, which is awkward for all of us in poli-sci. Alternative names for the discipline? Ruling science? StateKraft? (Kraftwerk is obv. taken) Power stuff studies?

Before panic sets it. The New NIH Director and Congress will want research to continue, so the machine will start up at some point. Keep writing papers and preparing proposals. AND educate the public about the key role peer review plays in science and the time and infrastructure investment needed

Infant Mortality Increases Across US Following Dobbs Decision The Dobbs decision was associated with a 7% absolute increase in overall infant mortality—equivalent to 247 excess deaths—and a 10% increase among infants with congenital anomalies, corresponding to 2...

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

Chocolate intake and risk of type 2 diabetes: prospective cohort studies Objective To prospectively investigate the associations between dark, milk, and total chocolate consumption and risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in three US cohorts. Design Prospective cohort studies. ...

Please.Halt.Nutritional.Epidemiology.
Will we run a trial on this? Are we going to have chocolate consumption dietary guidelines? Will it be a J-curved relationship in the end?
Is funding from Mars not a problem? But more importantly can we just put a moratorium of 5 years on these studies?

Et veldig godt eksempel på en helt enkel innsikt som jeg skulle ønske blei sagt på introkurs til medisinsk statistikk, istedenfor f.eks. at man må bruke kjikvadrat på kategoriske data og t-test på kontinuerlige data.

#HSR2024 in Japan has set the standard for visa processing.

Timely and predictable processes, waived fees

Thanks to JICA & Nagasaki University

There has been too many bad conference visa experiences. It is time to say no to hosts that cannot guarantee fair and predictable visa processing

Good morning from Nagasaki

Join us at #HSR2024 on Thursday morning 21st 8 - 9.30AM. Room 101(B).

What value does it bring to health policymaking if knowledge from civil society is considered a source of evidence together with research evidence, and what are the risks?

Looks like Bluesky will cross 20 million users some time before I wake up tomorrow morning ET.
The platform had 10 million users 2 months ago.
It had about 15 million users a week ago.
